First time growing, microgrow assistance?

I'd like to start by saying that I've never grown before and I'd like to try a small indoor grow, a couple plants at most. How hard would it be to grow inside a cabinet like this?(Mountain Dew and Cocaine can shown for size):

I'd like to use CFLs to keep temps down. I've been browsing around here lately, I'm just looking for something simple and easy. I have around 30+ seeds saved up from some above average regs, would these suffice for a first time grow? I don't need the best highs or anything, just something smokeable.

yeah that will work fine for about 2 plants imo. you would definately needs to take out the shelves. put some fans for fresh air and cfl's, and off you go. g/l

Yeah I figured I'd take the shelves out but still use one so I can adjust the hight of the plants to the lights :D. What kind of cooling fans? Could I cut a hole in it and use 12v PC cooling fans? How many and what kind of CFLs would you recommend?

best bet to get a nice bigish fan so you can hook up a carbon filter and with a cool tube youd get a 150w hps in there personally id scrog too and maybe keep about 1/5 of it seperate with 1 or 2 cfls for a cloner/ mother spot could be a nice lil personal use "machine" lol

Really I'd like to keep this as quiet as possible without larger fans. 150w HPS aren't CFLs though are they? If I used a couple CFLs I believe this would be cool enough but would it be enough light for two small plants?

Also I will note that I live in a very warm climate and even with AC on, the closet where I'll grow can be 85F, maybe even higher. That's why I want to use CFLs so I can try to keep as cool as possible. Could I just use a small 9" fan desktop fan or something and blow it across the two plants?

That's a good idea, thanks. I just realized that the temps outside the closet are often 85F+, but from what I recall, inside the closed closet.. it's generally cooler, maybe 78F or less. Hopefully I'll be okay.

Haven't started anything yet but once I get the lights, pots, screen and whatnot, I'll begin to germinate the seeds I have.

smell depends on strain i strongly recomend a carbon filter diy ones work and can be made for pittence yield depends on nutes, strain, light all sorts you wont get full potential outta your cab the first couple of harvests but you can see what is needed and tweak to suit a scrog in that area should yield plenty of personal once youve got it all runnin good

Looks almost exactly the same as my cabinet, if not a little bigger than mine. Running mine with 1 125w blue spec Envirolite, hopefully it'll survive long enough for me to whack in a red spec during flowering and have both lights running.



Thats my baby at just over 2 weeks.

I'm gonna start growing with just regular seeds from some normal regs, I'll probably build the filter. Good to hear that you think I can get a good amount for myself :D.

Great.
I found a 20w, 24" Cool White fluorescent bulb and lamp out in my garage, donno how many lumens but probably around 1000? Also have a few cheap 17w CFLs.. I started germinating some seeds, can't wait to plant them.
