Cannabis plants can grow quickly, but the quality and amount of flowers will be affected if you start plants late in the year.

If all you want is a plant, you can basically grow them at any time (with the right weather). In fact, I had to start a plant in July because all of my good breeding plants were males.

EDIT: I overlooked the part where the OP said that they lived in Illinois. I think that it might be too late.

I think they are asking because they want more than just a plant. They want something harvestable.
