First time SOG 8x8

No. The Bestva "600w" I looked up is only 125 actual watts, which would give you 7.8 watts per square ft. Don't fall for the false claims of the Chinese lights. Look for the actual wattage. That Bestva would be okay in a 2x2 tent. Not great, but okay.
What would be an affordable light to get bro what about viraspectra

Vipar is about the same as bestva. Look at the actual watts of any of those cheap Chinese watts and go by that to figure your watts per square foot. You want at least 30 watts per sq ft. 40 or 50 may be better if you go with those cheap leds. Or buy a 600 watt HID.

@skinitti666 Neither bestva 3000 (615w form the wall) doesnt cover 4x4. Only in veg. I use two of them and I had to add a bestva 2000 between for better coverage.

I would try Philzon 3000w, is the equivalent for Optic 6.

Vipar 1200 pulls 525 or 75 actual watts

I'm confused...(sorry may not have read all the posts)

First, I see that this is old news..

This is your first grow?...You're doing a SOG with 80 plants in an 8'x8' area? Really?
"If" this is correct..and I'm sorry if it is, I'd be really disappointed in the other posters not helping you along and making more suggestions as that is absolute overkill (number of plants)! All those Colas you see popping through in the SOG picture are the result of Low Stress Training (LST) your plant to create the nice big canopies..(each plant producing multiples of Colas.)...Those 80 plants, if grown properly, are going to totally over take that space and significantly reduce you efficiencies..

Any update as to how it worked out? Hopefully well...

Dont listen to this. They dont understand the difference between sog and scrog.

I know rhe difference.

As I said, .8 sq feet per plant is absolute overkill plant wise especially comsidering the
Lighting..
You're brief, useless response does little to help the guy.

That light around the perimeter is going to drop dramatically on over a third of the plants

Sog = no training...
What you are talking about does seem to be scrog

You are right because I use many different strains, directly from seed. It s jungle, but more than 60 of them are getting good light for sure. I also kept them in veg for too long. I think I can easily fit 20 plants in square pots on 4x4, directly from 1 clone, no veg (only few days for recovering). This is how I want to do it next time. Should start prepare my veg tent even from now.

I agree, traditional SOG has no training..I have always done a bit of a hybrid system myself; higher density plus a little training to create the canopy.. This avoids blowing a shitload on seeds..with a .8'sq density per plant..It's just not efficient.

Glad it seems to be going well..Hey, we all learn as we go..tweak here and there for next time..In spite if my previous comments, the posters on board have all been well intended...my intention was not to call anyone out here..Nice to have a place where you can get suggestions and advice when you need it..

Cheers

I actually do something similar, i top then flower, if needed i raise plants to be even height if it grew too much. I also lollipop all buds that aren't as big as the tops, basically each plant has (2) 10-14 inch colas, all with in the 6 inch diameter of the pot.its pretty bad ass. I did a little test run like this from seed. If i do from clone, it would be amazing.

Ps i tend to be stingy with my seeds which is ridiculous cause i have a nice amount I think

Awesome led grow, I think you'll be happy with your outcome. And it looks great for a first grow. You can only get better man. I'm subbed I have too see the outcome.
