First time Sour Diesel grow

hey everyone! :)

I've been getting everything together to finally start my first grow and things are underway so I wanted to start my journal early so hopefully it will be a decent record.

So the situation so far.. small closet grow 2x4x8 for the time being. Pretty much have it setup and good to go, all CFL currently. I will be setting up a second cloning veg area in the next couple of weeks to hopefully get things going on the following plan:

Just received a very vigourous 10 day old Sour Diesel clone from a buddy whos been doing it for quite some time with regular success. Her roots are at least 6-8 inches.. and she was transplanted 7/31 from her hydro cloning bed to soil and came home with me :D .. She was a little shocked at first.. but after just around 24 hours shes reaching for the sky and new growth has resumed at an impressive rate. I have her under a mixed spectrum of CFL.. mainly 5000k with some 2700k and 6500k in there to round it out. The plan is to veg her into a solid Bonsai Mom.. then take her clippings in a few weeks and start a proper veg/flower cycle (obviously removing her to her own safe little perpetual home).

I'm open to any and all feedback.. esp if anyone has some suggestions at this early stage as to how to help her grow as quickly and strongly as possible. Thanks for checking her out.. I'll be updating regularly :D

pleased to report that since posting earlier today.. shes already opened up a new fan leaf and is one to making another :D I guess it would be a good time to talk about what she's nesting in.. a pic is posted below.. the usual suspects.. but man its working! FoxFarms mixed in parts with roots Organic, verm/perlite, little Rare Earth.. Its my buddy who put the blend together.. but seeing her thrive after transplant, having never lived in soil, SO quickly makes me a believer.. though her offspring will be hydro.. she will as a Mom will be living in soil (unless someone knows about a reasonable constant veg/hydro state?).. so chances are it will be a blend like this?

So anyone have any suggestions on what else she might need right now? Thrive Alive in her water etc? Just trying to get her up and strong so I can get her ready for sustainable clipping.. Shes been sitting at between 80-85f during the day.. letting her cool a little at night.. not really lower than 75 though. Shes showing no signs of stress.. so I brought the CFL down on her substantially to try and maximize while I'm up and can monitor her.

Sorry this isn't a 'journal blog' yet.. I wasn't aware you had to have a certain amount of activity on the site before you could do that.. I'll move all this in there whenever I get activated.. \oo/ Bishop

Here goes Day3 of the SD clone (Day 13 of her total life.. 3rd out of the hydroclone and into soil).. Shes doing great! At least it seems so.. Her newest fan leaf grew and laid down considerably over 24~ hours.. and the next went from a 1cm shoot to almost 2 inches and is starting to separate. Tried to get a more uniform 'surrounding' of CFLs on her.. Room temps are good and she isn't getting too hot it seems. The lowest and largest fan is showing signs of what i believe is likely nute burn? Can anybody confirm? Being transplanted (and into soil no less) in the last 72 hours seems logical that mix might have been a bit of a shock. No other leaves show symptoms, but a darker color throughout and the 'burned' look lead me to believe. If anyone has a more trained eye I would appreciate the feedback.. especially if theres something I can do to help the situation. As is shes just had a touch of water and lots of CFL and a breeze sitting around 80f. Anyone know when vege nutes would begin.. I'm having trouble pinning it for newly rooted clones (lots of seedling info).. thanx! \oo/ Bishop

Day 4-5 Everything is still going great with the SD clone. Changed up her light situation to a more uniform spread using 2 bulb splits and adding more 5000k. Seems good as it ups the overall lumes with the veg spectrum and more elements of the plant are closer to the light. She's responded and how! When I last checked her last night she had 3 of 5 leaves up for her newest fan.. which was strong for the day... When i got up today, i was disappointed to see the rest hadn't unfurled.. BUT WAIT.. that leave was entirely unfurled and standing and she has ANOTHER one almost out... shes kickin butt!! Must like the new light! :D
There IS a singular issue with one leave being yellow and upcurling... i'm thinking it is heat stress while she was low on water.. hoping thats the case anyone.. its pictured below.. if anyone can positively ID this I would be grateful.. I've repositioned the lights to give that area a little space. The larger (earlier) leaf that was showing signs of nute burn (?) seems to have gotten over it in admirable form.
Added her first nutes past just whats in her FoxFarms/roots/verm/perl mix.. 1-2 drops SuperThrive per gallon. After reading exhausting debates about its merits/fallacies.. I decided to go for it.. Gave it to her in distilled water.. its supposedly good for stress, transplant, and veg.. less is more etc.. so hopefully this does some mildly positive things for her root system and general sense of well being. Also gave it to a mistreated house plant in greater quantity.. Worst case scenario.. nothing happens.. Best case.. some positive vitamin action for our girl.. Back later with updates \oo/ Bishop
