First time trying my hand at LST

Tried out LST for the first time. I think I did okay .. I tried it out on one of my bigger ladies first and well I went a little too far and she bent but didn't brake! So I braced the bend with some wire and have her held up for the time being and maybe I'll try again in a couple weeks. What do you guys think? This is my first shot at autoflowers and they're 25 days from sprout. Also sorry if I did any of this wrong I'm new to forums. Lol

Welcome to rollitup! :eyesmoke:
Nice LST. Don't be afraid to bend her over more.
I like that you countered the bend with another tie. Good work.
Sometimes I like to bend her straight over with LST clips.
Bamboo sticks help too.

Thanks for the welcome!
Oooo, I've seen some people using those I just haven't found any at my local hydro store! I wanted to bend them more but after the first one bent too far my anxiety got the best of me lol. I had to stop and smoke for a few minutes and went back to try my other three.
Did the picture of my other three show up? It's not showing it for me

Only the one picture showed up. Looks like the plants are looking for more light as they have quite a bit of internodal stretching. As a new grower it’ll be best to focus on keeping them healthy vs. trying to train them. GL

Hopefully the picture of the other three posts in this reply.
So far they're pretty healthy, no signs of any deficiencies. I agree they are stretching pretty good, I've heard this strain is a bit of a grower though. The light I have isn't the greatest and I've only had it on it's veg setting. I did just set it on both veg and bloom setting because I felt it was stretching a little much.

Yes if you use that light next time start them with both switches on from the start.

Gotcha! Thanks for the advice. I plan on getting a better light and bigger tent after this grow and using this tent as a veg/dry tent and that light as a veg only light.
Also after a few hours the lady that bent completely isn't looking as stressed as she was after the bend so I don't think any internal damage was done.

When I first saw the thread title I read it as trying your hand with LSD! :D

What I use are pipe cleaners - not the abrasive kind but like for art, the soft ones. You can piggyback them onto each other if you need more length, and they wrap gently around the stem. Then I stick a pushpin into the side of the plastic pot, and wrap the other end of the pipe cleaner into that

Oh I didn't think of pipe cleaners! Those things are crazy cheap. I'll have to try that method out because I hated putting holes with my scissors into my pot lol.

Also, I love me some cid. Lol

Not to be rude, but have you ever heard of plant ties? I have seen several growers opt to use pipe cleaners, excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't putting fuzzy fabric contraptions into a moist/wet environment risk mold forming on them and then cross contaminating your plant with mold spores?

I'm only asking because I recently had to do LST for the first time and someone mentioned 'carhooking' with those things to me. I was going to go down to my local dollar store and buy a pack for $2 or $3 and then I found out about plant ties, and they were cheaper than pipe cleaners from the dollar store. All plastic too, so no chance of them developing mold.

I’ve used pipe cleaners a lot and haven’t had mold. But then again it’s in flower no foliar spraying, and I keep my grow environment in check. I could see what you’re saying especially if you’re IPM spraying in veg or foliar feeding and may create that problem.

So I ended up buying some of those clips! I think I did alright on the three that were good. The one on the left kinked just a little bit. I think I tried the bend too low. How'd I do?? View attachment IMG_20220719_171219330.jpg

Perfect! I just did the same thing to a few from seed close to your plants stage and they recovered nicely
Here's an update! Start of week 5, the girl I accidentally supercropped took off! I kind of regret not leaving her sideways now lol but these are autos and I've always heard that was bad for them now I know at least these ones can take it. I'll probably get a net and weave her into it to help even the canopy, I'm getting a new light to help with the stretch a bit. Some of the girls are already pushing out that purple too!

Here's another update of my P.P.D autos! Coming near the end of week 6! Finally got a new light too. They didn't stretch out as much as I expected after seeing the way others have but hey, they still look good! The one I didn't bend is definitely pretty big lol. Looks like they're getting ready to start filling out their buds and oh my.... They smell delicious! Like a stinky sweet grape smell :-P.
