I was told some strains have 9 leaves some only go to seven and some can go to eleven. I personally have only had 7 and 9 leaf plants,

I think it mainly has to do with genetics. I use to have a plant called ducks foot that mainly had 3 leaflets and was webbed. It wasn't very good weed though. Heres a pic of it from someone elses garden.

I have also grown weed that had 9 to 11 leaflets and leafs the size of dinner plates while the plant next to it the leafs were barely the size of the palm of my hand.

That "ducksfoot" was made by an aussie named Wally Duck. Made that specifically with the guerilla grower in mind. Supposed to be a "stealth" plant with the odd leaves. Or thats the story anyway. Pretty cool. Have heard mixed reviews on potency though.

Most I have seen is 13 fingers on a single leaf. Think it is just strain and age/maturity dependant.

If you have to look during lights off, would a weak, red flashlight be best you guys think?
Green would be better. Its doesn't have much affect on the plants. They can't use the green light.

That said, you could get away with it. Just keep it quick, and the light faint. Only use the light for what you need.

just taking a quick peek to make sure no twine came undone, so shit won't burn when lights come on again. It's a 1 red LED bulb flashlight

Aw, you'll be fine ! Just don't hang out in there for hours. Take a look. Fix anything needing adjustment. You'll be fine.

Can always wait until lights on to take a look...

Green is more harmless. People love to argue about it, but I keep a very small light leak during Flowering, with a very low light blue LED night light, and I keep them used to it.

Hey guys!

I am having major ph trouble with my 1st time bubbleponics setup.
I had high ph and lowered it to 5.6.
After an hour it's at 7.5 again. WTF!

Is this normal?

Adjusting ph multiple times a day seems weird.

Why does it spike up so fast?

If anyone can help with advice that would sweet. thanks.

PS. My cam is broke. There are brown spots and the leaves are curling downward.

Should I use just ph water and no nutes?

I am using water from a filtered machine, starts out at over 7 ph.
thanks

I tiil have high PH water. I use tap water that starts out at around 7.4. I ph it the days before the res change down to about 6 and it always jumps back to around 7 the next morning. I then add just 10ml of ph down for the 6 gallon tank and that knocks is down to about 6.4. Add the nutes and it's about 6.3 when I do the res change. Next morning it's back to about 6.8 and I hit it with 10ml of ph down again to knock it back to about 6.3. Next day may be 6.6 and I knock it back to about 6.1 with the 10 ml of ph down and it stays there or lower the rest of the week. Trick with ph adjusting is not to add too much at one time. I don't chase PH and as long as it's between 5.6 and 6.5 I'm good. Think target zone, not number. I've done my share of ph chasing when I first started and it's a losing battle. Always use 10 or maybe 15ml of ph down at a time and don't freak. PH fluctuation is worse for the plant than anything you end up with in range.

Thanks for the info, I am glad I am not alone. When you mention 10 or 15 ml are you meaning liquid ph down? I am not crazy for the powder the bp unit came with.

If you do use ph down liquid, what brand do you use and where is a good place to get some?

peace

No but early on I tried lemon juice and vinagar and they screwed it up more than helped. Organics in hydro are tough.

I have my bp on a stand and it has the front valve for draining. I empty 1/2 gallon and add the ph down and then I pour into the tub. Is this the best method? Or should I just put in the tub?

No if you are using the powder you will want to premix it in some water. You are using the best method whether using powder or liquid. Whenever you add the PH down directly to the res as the plants get bigger and the tank fills with roots you have a chance at burning a root.

Okay either powder or water they are added to the 1/2 gal. mixed then added.

I did read about mixing the powder with the water 1st, thx.

The only liquid ph down I have right now is from API made for aquariums, will this do? I think it should cause it did work on small 1 gal. aerogarden. I was use to using drops and I almost shit when you said 10- 15 ml. wow!

I read somewhere that for aquariums or hydro they work the same.

You are right. Tht PH down will work fine. Apply it at half the rate you think you should. Since this a a largely unknown product in your situation I'd go about 7ml or less for the tank and then see what that does. It should be equivalent but you have to check to make sure.
