First Timer DIY 2400w Flood and Drain

I'm a happy camper at 3 out of 4!

I'm really not sure what I'm doing about the light spectrum.
The 1000w lights (especially the HPS) are too intense for the short grow space and I'm bleaching them pretty bad.

I've got 3 600w HPS I'm not using and I may just switch them in for the existing lights or perhaps even just move the 1000 to the middle and 1 600 on either side.

I will be scrogging these girls to whatever height i want but Id rather grow them 8 inches taller and not have them bleached all to shit.

I invite anyone with an opinion to let me know what they think I should do....

3 x 600w HPS
1 x 1000w HPS
1 x 400w MH
1 x 1000w MH

What would you do?

So... The general consensus is to be quiet and not look for advice?

Switching to 600w lights today.

Adding another 40 gallon piggyback res.

Screen is being constructed as well but i really need about 12" of vertical growth before I install it.

Hey Bigfoot,

Good call with the 600's. You'll be able to place them close to your plants and you already have the perfect amount.

A small suggestion.. If you have the space you could throw in the 400w MH for some extra blue light. Maybe hang it in the center above the other lights or off to the side a bit.

We just had a 3 day heat wave and the temps outdoors hit 40c with the humidity. My AC never shut off once in those 3 days and removing the heat of the 1000s from the room will help counteract that during the real heat of summer.

I dont want to add that heat back in with the 400w but if I can cajigger my 4" inline fan on my charcoal filter to run another Cooltube it may just work.

Given that its going to be a scrog, is there any advantage to light coming up from underneath the canopy? I could run the light facing up towards the bottom of the buds...

Never thought of it. Might just be crazy enough to work! Red light from the top, blue from the bottom.. Can't think of anything wrong with that.

Res upgrade completed today.

Found a rain barrel out back, had a lil pond pump and lots of hose and fittings...

50Gal drum outside of grow space effectively tripling water capacity for bucket upgrade and nutrient/pH stabilization.
Plus im guessing the few hundred buds will need more than a cup or two of water a day in full bloom



Pump fed from the main res and gravity drain return to main res.



Built in an overflow just incase...



"Waterfall" effect from return line doing a great job of oxygenating the res.



4 Degree drop in average res temp and more consistent PH since implemented.



Top ups and nute changes can now be down without removal of unneccesary ribs and subsequent freak contortionist acts. (Im 6'5 and not exactly "slight")

Threw together a grow log sheet instead of the hand scrawled notes I have been taking.

Sorry about the bad news man.. It's a bummer we can't freely do the things we love most sometimes.

I'm back with the last Veg update!

I bought myself the last week of Veg I was looking for by doing a transplant and then I simply had no choice but to leave them be for a week.

Defoliating and trimming tonight

Day 53 (Tomorrow) the plants will see intentional darkness for the first time since they hatched.

The screen went in on transplant day and will be moved up a few inches during the stretch.

Res change to Bloom nutes will be after the first 12/12 period.

Foliar feeding will commence for the first 2 or 3 weeks of flower (or until the buds get too dense to safely moisten them without inducing mold growth)

Going to run lights at night to take advantage of cooler nights and lower electrical costs during off peak hours.

very sweet. nice to see somebody learn and apply properly.

60-80% rh is way too high, even with co2. 55-60 is better. what is the homemade co2 gen that causes an odor?
