Hi all. I thought after OG was taken down these types of places would never be seen again. I'm glad I was wrong and I found you! I dare say this could be my new home, if I'm welcome of course
I'm tired of buying shit green (in some cases brown ), and want to grow my own. I've been inspired by Tek's journals (and others) and the ease of growing the aerogarden can provide. However, I just wanted to start a thread to make sure I am covering all bases and getting everything I need to make this operation a successful one.
I've ordered some Lowryder #2 seeds and I'm going with the aerogarden, start to finish. After I get the process down, I will probably build something more efficient. But for me, It seems like the perfect solution since I live in an apartment building and space is an issue, and I am *completely* new to growing anything. A good solution from which to learn the in's and out's.
I know I will need to find some sort of cabinet to place the aerogarden in, put some reflective material on the inside, cut out a hole on the bottom/side for air intake, and one on the top for air outake. I've found the DIY carbon scrubber thread and plan on making one of those as well.
Do I need to place an external fan near the cab intake to keep the inside cool ?
Should I buy some extra CFL's and put em on the side (as Tek did) ? Or just the overhead be enough ?
Should I replace the aerogarden light or is the aerogarden pro 200 stock light just fine ?
I've seen many people suggest using Fox Farm nutes, but which types should I get for the aerogarden? Grow Big? Big Bloom? Tiger Bloom? Open Sesame? Cha Ching? There's so many, I just dont know which...
Should I start with the nutes right away or wait a few weeks ?
With the lowryder#2 strain, I should keep the lights on 18/6 for the entire grow cycle ?
Some people have mentioned an "air stone". I imagine they go in the reservoir and provide oxygen, but are they hooked up to an air pump? Do I need one of those as well ?
What else am I missing?
if you can help a brotha out by answering any of these questions for me, you'll make me very very happy... thanks in advance
