hey all im a newby here and to growing under lights,,this may seem like alot of dribble but i guess its best to tell u everything i can

room size in feet 3x4x6high
1x 400w hps 65cm away from 1week 2day old seedlings
2plants in 10inch pots 1 in a 8inch and 7 in 4.5 inch.
soil mix is yates evergreen all purpose potting mix
ill get back to u on temps and humidity.

Is 400w hps too much for 1 week old seedlings????(they have been fine for the whole time,,up until the other day a few started drooping slightly but i think i over watered)

Also on another forum (not sure which 1) some1 had aprox 20 plants in 1.25 litre coke bottles cut in half and was apparently getting 10 to 12 grams per small(30cm) plant ,,i have decided to try this but the roots on 1 week old seedlings are already at the bottom of the pot,,,is this bad?????the same person was supposedly getting 6 to 8grams out of a foam cup is this realistic??????any help would be greatly appreciated cheers........:joint::-?:joint:

It sounds to me like you are giving them some extreme light for their age. You would have better results using flourescent tubes or cfls until they establish better. I don't think the HPS is the best answer for vegetative growth. Wrong spectrum.
