So I have to go do a fitness test in an hour for a job fighting fires in the summer. Gotta run 2 miles in 14 minutes. This is gonna suck! Gotta do it in work boots too. If I pass which im pretty sure I will this is gonna be pretty much the fastest ive ever ran. Wanted to see how long everybody else takes to run a mile?

You can do it, but, in boots?? Wow, that will be tough. I run a mile in 6 minutes without boots, I have no idea how long it would take me in boots.

I just asked my hubby how long is the average time....He runs everyday, as well as I. He said our times are pretty good, he said in the military (which he is in) the average person takes 9 minutes to run a mile and with training they tend to get it down to 6 minutes. So, 14 minutes for 2 miles, wearing boots, is going to be tough.
Let us know how you made out and what your time was! Good Luck, you can do it!

Your kidding we had to do 2 miles in less than 11 minutes...age dependent. I always thought the running was stupid. I went to fight not run away:)

Holy fuck that was tough, I did the running in 15 00 with fucking steel toes on, also had to wear the yellow coveralls that are hot as hell, except the outside part that was just cold. After that we had to do situps pushups and chinups all in a row. After the situps i went to the washroom and puked everything up. But after i got all that outta my gut i owned the pushups and chinups haha.

Take 1 aspirin 1 hour before the run that puking and side stitch is referred to as the wall...The wall is the enemy.

It has to do with getting more oxygen to tissues. Removing lactic acid from muscle. Circulation....Works like a charm.

Well aspirin does serve as a blood thinner, so I guess that would work. I have never tried it, but, I will today. I know the hubby takes an aspirin a day, maybe that is why he can run faster than me....
