flipping loud fan

I'm trying to figure a similar problem out; living in a house with other people and i'd rather my setup went unnoticed. Your fan is 6"? get ducting that is a few inches bigger than the size of the fan, also try to have as little bends in the setup if possible, rigid parts are good for the right angles, its the places in the ducting that bend and crinkle that will create more noise, In theory the bigger ducting should slow the flow of air down and create less noise when it comes out the other end. If the problem is just the fan itself there's one thing i can suggest; put it on something soft, if its attached to the wall put some foam underneath it to loose some vibration. :)

A 400 CFM fan is for exhausting an entire tent or a long daisy chain of ducted lights. If you are pulling fresh air through a single lamp, try an inline booster fan rated at about 160 cfm. The cost should be around $30. You will not need a controller for the inline booster fan. This is assuming you are using the fan solely to cool an air tube.

If on the other hand the fan is doing your air scrubbing and cooling the light and exhausting the tent, make sure that the fan is pulling air through everything and not pushing air. The only air it should be pushing is a few feet of duct out of the tent.

Or, you just have a noisy fan. The description says the fan is ultra quiet, so maybe ship it back and ask for a replacement.

eh yeh its just a small tent for 1-2 plants so its doing the air scrubbing and cooling the light and sucking new air in..idk what difference it makes if it pulls or pushes? given its only got a few feet of duct to get through.

But yeh its prob just a crappy loud fan so muffling the noise best i can is the road im going down.. 'ultra quiet' is all relative i suppose .. i think its about 42db which maybe quietish compared to the others but not enough for me..
