FLIR, too risky?

I'm considering a grow with a 1000W HPS bulb. It will be winter when I start, and lights on during the day.


local police have flir, would this be too risky??

Well, its part of it. If not the law, your friends, if not them, than pests. It will always be something. You have to accept the risk that comes with it

Well, thats on you. Learn your local laws, make sure that you have the least amount of risk. IF i go down, the most I can get is five years. I don't keep anything at my house. No scales, nothing ready. I don't even keep pipes and bongs etc.

I have attorney on retainer, he has advised me on the ins and outs.

I think you should worry more about friends and pests than local law enforcement. Its tough to enforce laws that the president himself said that the DEA weren't. I know local is different than national but you don't know if the locals have shifted man power away from grow op to sex rings. Or whatever the case may be.
 
Local law is very hard on marijuana, for some reason. If you follow that link it says they have a plane equipped with flir.

I'm just worried my 1000 w bulb will put off enough heat to be detected in the winter.

Nah, I try to stay away from the law. Even on the web. Now when someone googles your local sheriff. This web site might pop up with your username and the post
 
Yea what GWN said... they arent coming in for a thousand watt grow man... a space heater is 1500 watts.... You can get more than enough personal running a 400. or if you wanna run a bigger op grab some bigger LED panels that wont give off ANY heat w the right cooling and let them bitches rock!

Straight up, i can promise you that a 1 x 1000W bulb is not gonna be blinding chopper pilots using imaging camera's!

Your bulb will obviously add a nominal amount of heat to the room, but then do u really think the police are zooming in on everybody in country using fan heaters which are generally all 3kW (3000W)??! Compared to how much the rest of your house will be glowing in IR anyway, the bulb will make no difference.

The only thing to be more careful of, and is only one other likely yet still slight way to be caught, is actual light pollution. If the bare bulb is visible thru ur window & line of sight is good from air & ur entire surrounding neighbour hood is dark, then yeah a decent chopper pilot will then obviously wonder why u got a security light mounted indoors!!

But unless u got banks of lights (6+) and every surrounding room/ building within 50metres is at sub zero temps, then u don't have to worry about heat signatures 1 bit.
