Flood and drain w airstones? coco?

So iv been thinking on my next growroom design and I'm pretty much settled in on flood n drain. But, I was thinking to fill the bottom of the try with hydroton (5gal pots for plants will be full of hydroton also) AND adding 4 12"airstones on the bottom. Have that airpump also on a timer to turn on when the table floods. Will this do what Im thinking and work like a dwc/flood n drain hybrid?

Another? involving fnd, how would coco stand up against hydroton in fnd? Will the speed and production advantage of hydroton outweigh the taste advantage of coco? In other words, more or less how much less per plant (I plan on 4plants per 4x4tray) using coco vs hydroton?

I will sacrifice some yield if it means my flowers are going to taste that much better.
