Flood table question?

View attachment 1376028I have a 4x4 flood table filled with hydroton rocks. I have a res that is alittle higher than the table so the table doesnt drain all the water back to the res. Is it ok if the table has some water at the bottom? When the pump turns on, the water rises like 1in. Which does wet the roots enough. I just wanted to know if it was ok if some of the nutes sat on the bottom of the table. The pump turns on every 45min for 15min. Thanx for reading

well alot depends on what you mean by "some water". is there just a cup or two right around the drain probably ok. Is there water covering the whole bottom of the tray? this is no good. by the way once an hour is way to often cut you watering back to like once every three hours only when lights are on.

Some 1 told me that if some water sits at the bottom the roots can spread out and grow across the table because the water that sits can help the roots stay alive acoss the table. The water that sits in the table goes up to the cracks on the table. Idk wat they are called,, the table has like 1in. crack(lines) that are crossed across the table. THe water barely touches the bottem of the roots. When the pump goes on, the water rises up and covers half of the roots. Which I think is enough water for the roots.

cant you just lift your table up an inch or two to get the res. under it. would be as easy as a couple bricks under the corners of your table

Yea but the plants are like 20in. tall and 21in. away from the light(1000)watts. What the closest you can rise it up to?

you don't want the roots sitting in water. Roots like oxygen. Like was said previously, a very small amount is fine. But if you have standing water across the whole bottom of the tray that is no good.

and algae from the pics you are running your tray with hydro rock in the bed which means your friend is not clear on what he is talking about the point of the hydro rock is to lock in moisture for hours to the roots they will actually seek out the moisture in the rock. if water is sitting in the rock when they reach the water they will prably stop growing for the fact they have found what they where looking for. keep them looking and the roots grow more 1 watering a hour is allot i was doing 5 floods in 12 hours in my flowering room just changed it to 3 times in 12 hours and they seem to be liking it more.

Easy fix is to get a different container for the reservoir, it looks like you are using a storage container, so buy a lower profile in the same gallon size, or just buy a real reservoir, they sit pretty low...Good luck...JR
