I used an HID for my first grow and now I'm going to grow 3x as many plants using hydro instead of soil and I'm going to try to do it all floro. I have a an 8 lamp 'tek light' @ 40,000 lumens and I plan to use somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 CFL's.
The reason is heat. The HPS light that I have will not work when August rolls around and it's blistering at 115 degrees outside. I just can't handle trying to cool the grow room when conditions get like that. Floro should be much easier.
So now you have all the equipment to do it Floro and you get an HID. You can either setup a seperate veggin' area or you have the option to lower your heat output.
