Flourecents?

is it worth it to grow with regular flourecent lights instead of cfls? i have 5 plants growing right now under regular shop light-like lights. i just put the seeds in the soil as i did in my previous grow. this is my first grow indoors and they are the only lights i have.

feedback please and thank you:leaf:

4' tubes 40w are good for the first few weeks. I would try for around 300w of light. 3 or 4 100w cfl's 6500k would give fair results in veg.

Those 4' shop lights distribute their light around sooo much they only make lankey stretchy plants(I know this from experience) ;)

The T5 fixtures they make for growing have the bulbs closer together and have the reflective material closer to the bulb to send it down towards the plant...if you want to grow 5 plants look into at least a 250watt hps...or hell even a 150watt hps if you want to do a SCROG that would be fine...HTGsuppy.com has 150watt HPS complete systems for $66+shipping

But really if you want to get any sort of yield off those 5 plants you need to upgrade your lighting severely...I wish I had rollitup to turn to when I tried using a shoplight once years ago lol :D

when you used the shop lights what happened? how was your yield? none of these seeds are feminized so im expecting maybe 2 or 3 to make it. do you think the light would work if i tried to rig it to go more toward the plant rather than all over the place?

I got 2 stretched out females that were 3' tall with a teeny tiny popcorn bud at the top that didn't even get me high smoking the entire thing...so basically no yield...it was useless...I use the shoplight now as side lighting(as you can see from my grow journal with pics) https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/454796-new-setup-2nd-time-grower-3.html#post6606006

I'm just using 150watt HPS floodlights I picked up locally for $35 each and MAN the difference...I did a CFL grow once in a PC case and that was meh...but sooo much difference using the HPS lights
