Flower a mother plant

So its my first grow I have 6 plants all vegging under a 400 metal halide. Im growing from seed so I need to determine sex. I dont want buds or anything yet, i just want to find out which ones are female, pull the males out, and then go bak to vegging so that i can continue to get clones. It's been 3 weeks into the grow. My question is: Can i imitate the 12/12 with a metal halide? Since I just want to find out sex and immediately switch back to gt some cuttings. Is it possible?

yes u can. a better solution would be to make a sleeve out of black tarp or something and put it over a branch 12 hours a day, and remove it 12 hours a day. this will put that one branch into flower mode and will show u sex without havin to reveg the entire plant. search for it. roseman gets all credit
