Flowering in the spring near the equator

I live in an area of the world near the equator that receives around 11:30 to 12:30 hours of sunlight year-round. I currently have some sativas from bag-seed out on my balcony with an outdoor light on them at night, so they are now getting 24 hours of light per day. This keeps them in vegetative phase. I am thinking about vegging them for about another month or two, and then starting flowering in around late March/early April. However, at this time, the days will still be getting longer. I am wondering if I do indeed begin to flower at that time, will the plants go into -- and stay in -- flowering mode, or is it possible that they might become hermis? Should I possibly instead wait to start flowering until later in June, when the days become shorter?

If you want to keep them in flower you need to control the darkness, simply cover them with black plastic. You can even cover a lil shorter everyday like the season was coming to end, cover a minute sooner every week etc...

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure that it is necessary to cover them up. I suspect that even though the days will be getting longer in April, May and June, the amount of increase in the sunlight won't be significant. In early April, the amount of sunlight will be around 12:13 per day. In mid-June, there will be about about 12:30 minutes of sunlight per day. I thus suspect that given that the increase in the amount of light per day during this period is only marginal, it is unlikely that the plants become hermis. (Also, right now they are receiving 24 hours of light per day.)

You won't have a problem with the light you just gave it a head start it still may grow the whole summer if it is sativa before it finished but will be big.
