flowering late, can I move 6' plant

Hi,
I've got one in the ground that only started to flower in the first week of Sept. It can only stay where it's at until the middle of Oct. So I don't think it will finish.
I can move it a short distance and it will be safe. Does anyone have experience doing a late season outdoor transplant? Would a two foot diameter root ball be enough?

Yes, I've moved/TP'd flowering outdoor plants w/o any issues. Your exit hole would depend on the plants girth, I think?
You're bound to disturb some roots, but it never mattered here?

thanks much. What was your plant size and what size root ball did you cut out? Also, how did you move the ball? Did you wrap it in burlap for transport?

good luck take sumpics of the process

I just cut out an ample sized hole and, after easing the plant out of the ground, set it directly into a prepared planter, then *side filled the planter with a paint stirrer. (stick)

I only went up a tiny bit in planter size, thus the stick for packing down the new soil around the rootball.
