Flowering Light cycle

Has anyone ever tried any different light cycles besides 12/12 for flowering? Like 8 on 16 off or something like that. Anybody know what this might do?

It'll fuck up your plant. You should read the Newbie section. There are a lot of posts that cover the basics like the reasons for the lighting schedules.

I had to figure light schedules out on my own. Nobody told me. Save yourself a whole lotta wasted time. Go by what we tell you and you'll enjoy growing a whole lot more. If you have the time and the room for ground breaking experiments by all means do.

you will get the same result form 8/16 (the plant will flower) but your flower times may increase or yeild decrease as your shorting the plant of 4+ hours of making food.

Yea I figure it would just take longer to flower, or they might grow quicker? The plants assuming it's later in winter?

I've read that you can speed up maturity of a flowering plant a little by shortening light cycle but it's not really proven. Plants still need 12 hours of darkness to trigger flower phase but you can make your buds finish a tiny bit faster by going to say 11/13 thereby tricking the plant into thinking winters coming faster. It's better to be consistent & finish your buds in breeder specified flowering times of course and messing around with light cycles is a known way to incur issues like hermied branches & such. Stick with 24 18/6 or 12/12 anything else is experimenting with the unknown.
