flowering question

I've read that you should wait to flower until you see alternating nodes.

I'm currently growing in a stealth cabinet conversion. the plants are only about 7 inches tall at the moment but they got root bound in the smaller 1 gallon pots somehow so i had to up to larger 2 gallon pots. The tops of the plants are about 7 inches from my cool tube(250hps) I can touch my hand to the cooltube and hold it there as long as i like its literally that cool :).

From what i've read the bag seed i'm growing is an indica strain of sometime...kinda squatty looking with broad leaves. I know that indica stretches less during flowering but with only 6in to spare I think i need to go a head and flower them...the problem or question really is it ok to flower even though you don't have alternating nodes?

Also is it ok to LST during flowering or should it be done during veg? I haven't been doing lst or topping or any of that all though i probabley should with my limited space, instead, i've just been tucking the larger fan leaves underneath the smaller bud sites so that the receive better light.

Haha never realize how crappy my DIY cool tube actually looked....it does the trick tho

first of all plants don't really get root-bound it just has to do with the amount of water they are able to access, they will dry out faster and grow slower if you don't water them often enough. they can get more robust roots, but the problem isn't the pot size its the watering frequency.

flower them. you might be too late. top them to 5 or 4 inches then flower them they will get another 5 inches easily even if they are indica...

those plants look kind of sad is it very hot in there?

The rule of thumb is 1 gallon container for every 12 inches . And yes you need to flower right now, you will never make it to alternating nodes.

You can flower anytime. I would start if I wer you you might have to bend and tie a little as the weeks go on. If you havent started yet You could pinch out the tops. Look up super croping in the search tool.Good luck with your grow

those pictures were taken the day after i transplanted them and i soaked the pot till water came out the bottom, don't know if that had something to do with it. I was over watering for the first 2 weeks just picked up a mositure meter. They have perked up alot the last couple of days. I had heat problems at first like 87 ish with the lights on...added 2 more fans and no it stays around 80.

Ok guess i'll just top em, flower em and hope for the best. As long as i get some bud i'll be happy lol. I'll post some pics in a couple of days.

I'm moving soon and i'll have a 2ft x 5ft x 8ft closet to grow in. So i'll prolly end up veging in the cabinet and flowering in the closet which should elminate my height restriction problems. Or maybe just use the closet with a 400w hps( picked this one up for 50 bucks...pays to have an commerical electrician for a friend) for veg and flower? Do you think a 400w hps would be too much for that size closet? I think the 250 is too big for my cabinet but it only cost me 40 bucks for ballast, bulb and cooltube :)

oh boy they had all sorts of fun problems! glad you worked it out!

veging in the cab and flowering in the closet is a good idea, you can veg for longer that way, like until they are too big for the cab... 400w hps is pretty good you will need ventilation and such, 250 is big for that size cab you may want a 70w mh or just some CFLs would probably be fine.

might be a good idea to use a cooltube with a metal halide it would work great. or CFL in the cab and the cooltube with the 400w in the closet.

best of luck to ya buddy,
stop by my g/j in the sig and show sum luv

the 400w puts out a lot more heat than the 250w, at least mine does

for sure, with a 250w you may not even need ventilation if the passive airflow is good (although its always a good idea)

400w almost requires some sort of active air movement... which is always a good idea anyways.
