Hmmm, I've never known the answer to that but the plant will tell you when it's ready if you pay attention to it.

It seems that when you look at a feeding chart. The day you go to 12/12 is the start of flower.. but the hard part is when is it done?? But keep in mind that you need to complete week 8 or whatever.. I've known a few good growers that figured out they were a week off cause they waited until the 8th week and not to complete the 8th week. DOH!

The rule is:

Calender / trichs / hairs

You wait the calender, then check the trichs and hairs.. some, like the White I have, will 'look' done by the hair at week 5.. but it's not done.. Calendar first, then start to check the other signs. better to go too long then too short if you ask me.

:)

What I always do is check the trichs coloring that way I get it how I want it (Depending on the strain). But if you system isn't broke no need to fix it.

I always keep and eye on the trichs, the flowering times given by breeders is not always the same for you, it depends on grow room conditions and other factors.

clock starts at show you can change clock all you want means nutin to plnt til after maturity
your nodes will be side by side til maturity
at maturity plant switches from side by side nodes to alternating nodes
next is pistils to show now plant is mature
can switch or not switch

you can 12/12 from seed all you want but nutin gona happen in this case til plant is convinced fooled stressed into thinking it is time to mature and flower
it will take sum time but not as long as normal maturity cycle which is about from 4 to 6 weeks for most id say i have seen a lot longer not shorter

The short answer, and this is from my own growing experience, I'm not an expert, but, I have found that what the seed companies say on the packaging, is the time from the onset of flowering. So, an 8 week strain is usually 9-10 weeks to flower. The first week or two in 12/12 is a "stretch" phase, when the "snowballs" start to show it's countdown time.

when they say 80 day strain its 80 days from flipping to 12 / 12 80 days is just a indicator but kush strains normally are done 73 - 78 days after flipping to 12 / 12 least from my experience :)
