Flowering timeline?

Ok, heres my deal.

I travel a lot and can be gone for an over night or 3 weeks at a stretch.

I can water and such automatically.

But my, possible, problem, is harvesting time.

When the trichromes start changing color, what the time frame?

My strain is a 8-9 weeks flowering time.

Seems there is a vast preference in harvesting time. Mainly due to desire type of high.

So my newbie question is, from the earliest to latest (of the normal) harvest times, whats the time span? 10% - 80% red trichromes. (if dem percentages are in the normal range. If not, adjust)

(did I ask that right?)

(oh, quick Q on storing. How long is it safe/good (at least about 80% taste potency) in a freezer? I rather run the flowering lights in winter, heat the house, keep the room cool, then just veg and cost during the summer months)

Thanks dudes and dudettes,

Flowering times vary depending upon the strain. For instance, some Grapefruits are ready to harvest in 45 days. The strain I'm growing right now (Cherry-Lime-Ricky) seems best at 63 days.

Are you talking about storing your buds in the freezer? :o:

Instead, store them in glass Mason-type jars in your closet.

Thanks man!

I can store any which way.
As for the harvest time. I'm mainly looking for a time frame between the 'its coming soon' sign, and the 'now' sign

I can add in a webcam to monitor and have a friend harvest, but rather not bring anyone else into the mix.

A dark closet is good for 6+ months?

I read many years ago that in a freezer no potency is lost and froze for a long time. I still freeze seeds and have been able to germinate some that are over 11 years old, just make sure to put some rice or dessicant in with them for moisure control. All that said one's freezer can get pretty full if you freeze all your stash and I pretty much use mason jars in a dark closet. The biggest enemies of weed are heat, light, and air. I smoked some from 2000 the other day and it gave me a nice high. As for mason jars if you want your stuff to stay slightly moist you can break up small clay pots and soak them in water over night. Then put a little piece in each jar. I just heard about Cherry Lime Rickey from a friend who gets it in California, but can't find the seed anywhere so it must be a local strain?

Yes i agree, i would not freeze them, just put into mason jars and store in a cool dark place. As far as flowering time, just get a pocket microscope from radio shack ($12) and look at the tricomes up close. I usually harvest about 50/50 milky/amber color. Towards the end of the flowering cycle, some of the leaves will yellow and start to die off, this means you are pretty close, mabe 2-3 weeks away. But the little microscope is the best way. And the ratio of milky/red tricomes all depends on user prefference, milky = head high......amber= body high
