Flowering too early ?

Hi there,
Ok so I bought an iGrowCan (fat banana auto) little kit as a super humble first project, and let me tell you I’m already amazed my girl sprouted . I’m really not expecting anything from this grow, like I said, it’s my very first, I’m just discovering.
She started as a windowsill grow for her first few days, and then I got her a led grow light and put it on an 18/6 schedule. Oh, and a little fan too! She’s barely 3 weeks old now, seems to be doing good, and brings me joy every single day when I look at her just .. do her thang. Nonetheless, I’ve noticed yesterday she seems to be forming white pistils in her center/apex.. any thoughts on this as she’s so young ..?

Autos will start to show preflower signs by three weeks. That’s part of the reason it’s important to get as much light/growth as possible in the early weeks. It probably would be somewhat larger if you started under the LED originally. Do you have more seeds? You could pop another under the stronger light for comparison. 18 hours is a minimum. I’d up it to atleast 20. I am wrapping up a grow where it’s been 24 hours the whole time, and I’m pretty convinced this has sped up the process a bit. Get her in a larger, final pot with some enhanced soil as soon as you can. The plant’s need for nutrition will only increase as the flowers grow. Good luck!

so you don’t find it weird that she’s might be starting to flower this early on?

What are you using for a grow medium? Is that coco coir? Can you also give some specifics on your light? I have only grown autos in soil, and have typically not added any nutes for the first 25-30 days, but that totally depends on your media also. Last grow, I ditched liquid nutes and was very happy. Whatever you do, start lightly with the nutrients and observe carefully.

Totally normal to see some pistils three weeks in. Get yours in larger pots!

PS: I’m wrapping up an auto grow at the moment (took down a plant last night). I’ve kept a journal on the site which you can check out if you like. Fun plants.

Yes absolutely ! It is indeed coco coir, the kit also came with fertiliser to add into the coco, along with a germinating plug. Here’s a pic of said lamp (maybe I should opt for the stronger version?). When you say you ditched liquid nutes did you use another form of them or just none at all ? I have a much larger textile pot on hand which should do the trick just fine ! Thank you so much for your insight, it is much appreciated ! I will definitely check your journal I just love watching them grow so much ..

Sorry for any confusion, as the demands of soil and coco coir are a bit different, and I’ve never grown in coco, my knowledge is limited. Simply from reading here my understanding is that you do need to keep a steady supply of nutrients for coco. I just read up on the product you’re using, and I’m also sure they’ve carefully considered the needs of the plant in coordination with the size of the pot. It’s a small vessel, and that will be a limiting factor, though I also appreciate that you’re just trying things out. I would follow the recommendations of the kit in this case, though the small pot will limit growth.

I also suspect you’re going to need more light. I doubt a 15w can generate what’s needed for flowering. I would definitely keep it on 24/7, and see if you can add some wattage, or really par/ppfd, which are light measurements. That bulb is enough to get it about where it is now, but not much further would be my guess. Someone can correct me perhaps, on what a 15w is capable of. But look into adding more light.

Im super grateful to have found somewhere to discuss this new endeavour of mine alongside resourceful people, thank you again! it makes it so much more enjoyable to keep learning, which is why I stumbled here and am starting the way that I am.
yes I agree on the lamp situation (and the pot situation also) do you happen to have any recs from your own experience ?

If you try flowering with that light, you might.... and I mean might..... get a couple grams of some not so great smoke. Depending on what size you want the plant, will decide on what size light you need. 45-50 watts per foot squared, is what you want.

NEVER let the coco get dry.

Hahah yeah I’m not looking to have a massive yield at all with this project, just trying to keep it alive and well and see how things go, it’s my first ! Yes I try to water whenever the coco dries up, as I’m trying to not overwater

Don't let it get to the dry point. Coco needs to be kept moist at all times. It doesn't hold moisture as well as soil. I currently have mine at 5 waterings a day

It looks like it's off to a good start, but you really, really, need more than 15w to grow a vigorous plant and produce any meaningful harvest.
Most any modern 100w LED boards will work great, and reward your time and efforts with a nice haul of buds

If you're growing more for curiosity and yields are irrelevant, the 15w light will work, other than that, it's woefully insufficient.

I used to use small CFL lights to veg my plants....then move them under a 400w hps they always seemed to work great!! Have a thread of my 2-42 watt CFL grow box I use to have, stealth growing at moms house...always was fun!! Have few LEDS now days

Thank you for your response yes I absolutely agree ! Unfortunately I don’t have anywhere to hang a whole board for the time being.. I ordered a more powerful led grow bulb, to continue experimenting, I’m really enjoying the process so far and will hopefully make more investments later down the road !

Depending on budget, my recommendation is to get a tent based system. I like soil for a variety of reasons, simplicity among them, though the tent will support various media, so you can grow as you like.

You can buy an all inclusive tent package for a variety of prices, $350 and up for decent gear - I’ll paste an example below (3x3, which is a decent size for personal grows; I wouldn’t go smaller). All the components are essential. These will definitely allow you to grow nice, dense buds. You might do better buying stuff individually, but the kits keep it simple, then all you need are seeds and soil/coco or whatever. I bought an AC Infinity set up almost exactly a year ago and I’m about to pull my fourth harvest from it (all autos). Paid for itself after the first run for this admittedly heavy consumer, and each grow gets a little better with experience and awareness. I expect to pull 3/4 of a pound or so from the current run. Worth the initial investment!

By moist, that means 90%+ saturation at all times. At a bare minimum, you should be watering at lights on each day and make sure at least 10% of what you put in through the top comes out the bottom in run off.

I spotted a package (tent, lights..) for around 350€ on mars hydro’s website, which I’m eyeing..
not going to lie soil is kind of intimidating as they are so many different ones and I’ve read that they are more pests issues, is that true ?

Living organic soil, is just that. Alive. Full of microbes, fungus, insects. It's not intimidating once you learn.
