Flowering with a 400Mh and 600 Hps rather than Just a 1000 Hps

Any ideas about flowering with a 400MH and 600 HPS rather than just a 1000HPS??
I've searched around looking for any info but haven't come up with much...
Thanks in advanced

I've heard that it will be better as you are using more of the light spectrum rather than only one end at a time. Also, I heard that the MH will produce UV rays which should increase tric production. But I could've read it wrong. Anyone else hear this or know this first hand?

I like the mixed spectrum.. but your gonna lose the intensity of the 1000 and penetration of the 1000.. why not just buy a 1000 watt bulb with blue spectrum in it.. like some of the hortilux bulbs?

Personally i think you would be better off just getting a 400 and a 600 W HPS (both). If you just purchase a digital ballast for both lights you can use MH bulbs of the same wattage.
Your thinking on the two lights over one is a hole in one. Im sure there are SOME benefits to useing a (1) 1000W HPS light but thats not why im here. A few reasons why you should use two lights like you said. 400 and 600 watt lights are more efficent then a 1000W light. Also having two points of light , is better then having one bright point of light. If your canopy happens to be uneven you can seperately move the lights up and down without effecting the second light.

In my opinion its kinda useless to use an MH light, Some people will do it to increase the blue spectrum but its just not efficent enough to be used (indoors), compared to two HPS. If you are doing a SOG type of grow (small plants , without much veg time) There is no reason to use anything but HPS lights. If you are growing large bushes (unusual indoors) you may consider the MH light to grow the plants vegetatively. Otherwise you will get the same result by just using HPS lights as your gonna flip to 12/12 to flower ASAP. The HPS lights will give you the buds, and thats what its really all about

This is true Sheapdog Unless you are using air cooled reflectors with a glass bottom. If so the UV rays that are released from MH lights (when the light first shuts off) is absorbed by the glass and the benefits are negated.

You could use two HPS lights and a UVB Bulb ( Lizard light) To get the same results with more RED spectrum for when its time to flower.

if you are convinced you want to use MH i would get a digital 400W so you can during veg, put in a MH bulb but when you flip to flower you want both lights running HPS bulbs, Trust me

Very good,
Well the only reason I'm considering using a MH/HPS combo for flowering is because I'm already using a 400MH for veg. I was considering buying a 600HPS as well as a T5 setup (for Veg) rather than just a 1000HPS strictly for flowering...
So a 1000HPS and a lizard light? lol

I was unaware of the cool tube, but it makes perfect sense. I don't have a cool tube, just a batwing reflector.

Well I've decided for sure about going to a 1Kw 600HPS/400MH flowering room... likely on a mover.
Thanks for all the help, and check out my journal to critic please!!!
