Flowering?

do you consider a plant has started "flowering" when:

- you see pistills

- you see buds

?

See this pic: Is she flowering?

yes its flowering from what i can see.
Flowering begins when you start to see signs of sex.
I see pistils but it also looks like it has male pods there.
(possible hermie).

i meant the ones you see in veg at first that are hard to tell for sure
let me clarify what im saying here
what i mean is when its full blown pushing out flowers everywhere that i consider it to be flowering not when the first few spots start to show sex

The most common method is to force flower a labeled clone to determine the sex, rather than the incorrect method of forcing the seedling and then reverting it to vegetative growth again.

If you are a seedling grower who does not clone, or a grower who has no seperate vegetative and flowering grow spaces, the easiest method is simply to wait for the preflowers (primordia), and sexual maturity to appear while the seedling is still in vegetative growth. In other words, if you wait until they are 6 to 8 weeks old, most plants will show you their gender without any forcing.

Seedling growers who don't clone are really missing out on the full potency potential of their finished crop whenever they force their seedlings before they've become sexually mature.

no thats not correct.

The plants are mature when the internodes are alternating - then you can force flower and it'll be fine, you dont have to just leave them untill they choose to show you, they can be mature WAY before they flower themselves...

yeah it is, i said thats when I consider it to be flowering......your opinion may differ from mine but it doesnt change my opinion on when i consider it to have started flowering luda

So a plant is flowering when it shows signs of sex. Good to know, thanks!

Now I know my baby is on day 22 flowering!

I see pistils but it also looks like it has male pods there.

Nah, it's just the pic... the "male pods" you see are just new growth.
I see her every day and she is definitely a female (I had a male so I know how it appears).
No hermie (well, for now at least, and hope for the best).

lol, i guess i should of typed imo......it doesnt matter anyway when you consider it to have started flowering u harvest by trich not flowering time

of course!
I asked just because I read often:
"expect a plant to double or triple its size during flowering"

Since I have space issues, it is nice to know what height is to be considered 2x or 3x.

Knowing that this period has already started is good news to me, since I can't hold a tree in my room!

Peace

yeah, i was thinking in a different context, when you flip to 12/12 and it starts pushing the pistils out is what i'd go by in this situation....normally 1-2 weeks after switching to 12/12.

always plan for it to grow 3 times in height(although it probably wont) and you cant go wrong.

i start my time when switched to 12/12and has always been a 8 to 9 week harvest every time... but like i said its all about the trycs. how do you like them milky, amber,or amber and milky............ its all in the trycs.. hell you can have a plant that is done at 8 weeks and if you have any problems during flower that can delay harvest.

hello jeff.
clear/cloudy trichomes for maximum t.h.c. levels for me (super sticky in 8 weeks).

;-)

So, usually, if everything is perfect in the grow room it takes about 8-9 weeks to finish after seeing first signs of sex? If the temp is at 85 degrees, would it slow/stop growth at all? What could make the plant turn hermie, if only growing one plant?

I would not consider a plant that is showing "PreFlowers" to be in flowering stage. If you have switched your plant to 12/12 then that is the beginning of flowering, whatever the size was when you start the switch over, then figure at least double that height when its done with the stretch. I think Luda kinda misunderstood what you were really asking, as did I the first few times I read it.
