Flowering

Hey everyine
I have 7 plants and they all look pretty good...they're starting to smell good too! They're about 7 inches. How long will it take to flower them. They've been in under a 430 hps light for almost three weeks. My problem is that we may have to move so I may have to flower them early. Will I lose a lot of my yield? When would be the optimum time/ height to flower...I'm in a closet. If the plant is bigger does it take longer to flower. Also, if it produces less, does that mean the marijuana is more potent? Any help would be appreciated. One last question, how long into flowering should I start looking for pods on males? How long does it take before those pods pollinate the females...is it a small window to make sure and get rid of them?

YOU decide when to flower. this is accomplished by changing light cycle from 18/6 to 12/12.

you should start to see signs of sex between 2nd or 3rd week.

have fun!

Thanks. But I'm also wondering about what kind of yield I would lose? Would the buds become more potent. I know that I control when they will flower. I'm just wondering if 7inches is pointless.

The yield would be lower from a shorter plant than a larger one. The amount depends on the plant itself (heavy yielder or not). The potency I don't think would change much. You're going to flower about the same amount of time - an immature plant would grow a little more before starting to flower, while a mature plant would need less time. Size can be whatever you choose based upon amount of light, size of grow area, when you want/need to harvest, etc. If you have a small closet, you want small. Lighting - the less you have, the smaller (you need penetration). Time - if you're moving in 3 months, there's no sense doing an 8 week veg. Type of grow - if you're going to be doing SOG/SCROG, you probably want them shorter.

The longer you veg, the more branches which become bud sites. If you only have 400 watts of HPS (or CFL), I'd think you'd be wasting your time trying to grow an 8 foot plant - keep it smaller so that more of the plant gets the light it needs.
