clearex is nothing but a sugar product, an expensive sugar product.

If you really feel the need to flush (I don't), use unsulphured blackstrap molasses. $2.50 in the grocery store.

Just because clearex is 3% sugars doesn't mean molasses will leach salts in the same manner. Plus, molasses is A LOT more expensive than the leaching formulas.

OK, I'm not going to argue the effectiveness point, they both work.

But, just how cheap are they? In my area, a 5 gallon pail of feed grade molasses is ~$20. In the grocery store, Grandma's or the like is ~$5/qt.

Clearex is $5/qt to your door? I just can't see how molasses can be a LOT more expensive than the leaching formulas.

And the thing about a product like clearex is that it's a salt based solution with 3% sugars added. The reason the sugars are there is to give the plant energy at a time when you're looking to clear the nutes out of your medium. In all reality, you don't even need to use the flushing products as watering with a light nute solution with essentially flush just as effectively.

I'm not trying to argue for or against a particular method, but at $30 per gallon for a proper salt-based leaching solution, that's pretty cheap.
