Flushing

Hey Guys,

A friend of mine who grows told me he flushes 3 times....starting 2nd week of flower...6 weeks into flower and 2 weeks before harvest. He uses a flushing agent like sledgehammer to do it as well, not just water.

Does this sound right? I usually only flush right before harvest (unless I over fertilized or something)...but this only my 5th grow so I am still learning.

Should I be flushing this often?

I've seen schedules that say to flush like that like fox farms at week 4 7 and 10. I think they just want to sell you more stuff. I don't see a need. I'm sure there's someone that would say otherwise but I don't know anyone who does it personally. Did your last 4 grows have major nutrient problems? I'm all about the if it ain't broken, don't fix it kind of thinking. Then again I don't ever flush. I don't push the plants at the end but I don't starve them either.

Why don't you make a little experiment? You can do one with as little as three groups.

It could look something like this:

  • A) Control Group - no flushing.
  • B) Flushing Method 1 - your style of flushing
  • C) Flushing Method 2 - your friend's style of flushing

Once all groups are harvested and properly cured you can invite a few friends over, and ask them to be the judge.

If your growing organic flushing is not needed. If chemical I would read up on what you wanna do cause Ive seen people on here flushing and not flushing and getting the same results in the end.
I have flushed a couple plants, My first grow with FF tri pack I flushed one trainwreck and not the other and there was no diff. Same for a pineapple express grown and querkle later with using humboldt nute line.
To me a good smooth smoke comes with good slow drying and curing.
Also if you have a unhealthy plant the whole time in flowering its brix(sugars) levels won't be good and flavor and taste will not be as good as it gets.
