Flushing

Where did you read that? That's complete nonsense. Why would "synthetic nutes" be more prone to heavy metals than soil? heavy metal salts tend to be highly insoluble in water whereas the salts we use for nutrients are highly soluble. Dirt, is this big clump of non-soluble earth, which is much more likely to contain heavy metals and aluminum.

So "synthetic nutes" leave "salts", but organics don't have salts? Nature doesn't use a second version of chemistry and humans are a part of nature (animals). Plants eat nitrate ions, phosphate ions, potassium ions, calcium ions, iron ions, sulfate ions, etc. That's what we feed them because that's what they eat in nature.

Why would calcium nitrate have heavy metals in it? Please explain where in the process the heavy metals contaminate the salt. Why would salt that's been refined by humans have more heavy metals than the versions found in nature? Do you know where heavy metals come from? (the earth) By that same reasoning, you should prefer drinking from the ocean rather than using table salt. (accepted by most people as not gross or unnatural)

Synthetic nutes are usually high in heavy metals so you would want to flush.

With 100% organics the plant only eats what it wants when it wants it.With synthetic nutes, the plant feeds everytime you feed, and any left over salts from the ladt feed are also taken up by the roots when you water with plain water.

I know people have success either way. If your not flushing, I always recommend that you try it on at least one plant to compare side by side the impact it may have on your strain/overall quality of your dried and cured bud. It's silly to say "it's a must!" or "it's total bs". Like many techniques involved in growing, it depends on people's preference and their own experiences.

If you're confident that you dried and cured your buds properly but they DON'T burn to an almost white ash when you smoke them, or they 'sizzle', then you could definitely benefit from flushing before harvest.

Even if you think everything seams fine and your happy with the smoke, if it's not burning almost white, you should be flushing before harvest, JMHO.

That "white" ash is the nutrients you grew with. Pot-ash(ium)

Yeah i am with church a lot of precinceived notions that organic is infinetly better for you (for another thread) and that synthetics or "chems" ( stupid name since everything in life boils down to basic chemistry). For example I do not and will not use soft rock phosphate as it is known to have trace amounts of heavy metals. Long story short everythin can kill you and we are all gonna die some day!

You guys argue with flushing but on just about EVERY non-organic feeding schedule I have ever read the last week on the schedule is a flush with some additives to help flushing, just look at general hydroponics feeding schedule they tell you to flush for at least at week with "FloraKleen". That's from the fertilizer companies mouth. Here's their website so you can read with your own eyes if you do not believe me www.generalhydroponics.com .

I agree with what your saying yoda to an extent. Your example is my problem, you do not need some fancy bottle to flush your medium. Nute companies would sell you a bottle of carbonated water and callit magic juice and put a half naked women on there, bet ya it would sell. Point being i have seen a lot of flush products, thought about it when i was only running fox farms since they have that sludghammer flush product but ultimately decided water would work just fine as it has in the past.
