Flushing!

So kind of a stupid question but I'm confused. I see people saying to flush their soil, how old is the plant when you first do this? And how often should it be done? I feel like I'm going to do this and drown my plant how do I not drown the plant haha

No.

Never flush. Period.

Take the idea and remove it from your head. Flushing goes against plant biology. The only time you should ever flush is if your soil is toxic.

Instead, focus your attention to maintaining a healthy soil ecosystem. If you do that, you'll never need to flush and your bud quality will be far superior

Does it make sense to drown a plant?

Your flushing away all the plant's food source, and your root's food sources.

My thoughts exactly, now how do you prevent build ups like salt build ups for example or is that just lots of research and experience?

Good drainage. That's all.

Water should be able to steadily flow through the soil. You don't want it pouring out the bottom like a waterfall, and at the same time you don't want water "settling" on your top soil.

Water slowly.

Try a smart pot, its fabric and lets air through the soil and the drainage is very good. Its hard to drown them this way. Also, for flushing i thought you only flushed a week before harvest to remove the taste of notes in your smoke?

I'm never gonna flush I've been looking it up a little more and superbak3d is right there's really no point unless your soil is toxic
I'm just gonna straight water 2 weeks before harvest let the plant use up its nutrients

This is why flushing is the biggest crock of shit.

You can't flush out what the plant has already consumed and stored.

Proper drying and curing is what removes left over water/chlorophyll and sugar.

Being new, i think i have misunderstood the term flushing. So flushing is when you give it so much water and run off it removes toxicity levels? I thought flushing meant giving it pure water with no nutrients a week or two before harvest which let the plant use up the nutrients which were in the roots and body of the plant?

Flushing is exactly as it sounds.

Giving only water last 2 weeks isn't recommended. The last weeks are when they stack on weight and crystals. Makes no sense to starve them.
