I over fertilized my plant 6 days ago. I flushed it also days ago, and its better. My problem is that I need to bring the pH up because its at 3.5 and its giving my plants an Iron deficiency.

I have organic pH up for soil. But the soil is still wet. It seems that it's not drying. Should I wait for the soil to dry or should I apply the phUp now?

Bring the pH up. Use pH up or a small amount of lime. Don’t overdue the lime. Lime doesn’t work immediately and will keep raising the pH for a few weeks. If you use too much you won’t be able to get the pH back down.
It’s better to use Dolomite Lime because it has magnesium, which MJ plants use a lot of. All the different limes have calcium, but only Dolomite has magnesium. Dolomite takes longer to take effect, but last longer. Hydrated will react faster if you need to make a quick change with the pH. Some like to mix them half and half when quicker changes are necessary. If you use the same medium when you transplant, mix a small amount of lime right into the soil. Lime works best when mixed with the soil because it sticks. By that I mean it acts sticky and doesn’t water into soil that well. It also doesn’t flush out. Use one tablespoon per gallon of water and water one time with it. When mixing it with soil, start with one Tablespoon per gallon of soil and test the pH many times throughout the crop so you can make adjustments to the amount you used for the next soil mixing. Better to use too little than too much.

you have to let it dry out first. the roots will start to rot if you keep adding water to wet soil. try tilling the top inch or so of the soil to help it air out. i squezze the sides of the pot to get the soil to crack open a little. hope this helps.

can I just change the soil? I want to transplant them. How do I remove the soil that is stuck to the roots. Can I rinse it or do something about it?

Thanks guys!!

i wouldn't worry about the soil stuck to the roots. transplant as usual and don't over water.

any recommendations on the soil. Something I could get at home depot or easily found in the US? I'm using miracle grow for african orchids. It was really good until I added nutes; it totally went out of wack. I mixed a quarter teaspoon of 20-20-20 into a gallon of water. Someone told me that was too much.

maybe some "fox farms" ocean forest. i've used miracle grow for years. it is touchy at first. it has a lot of nitrogen. that with the 20-20-20 could cause some burn.

I have them in a 5 gal pot. I'm not really transplanting them I'm just gonna change the soil I want to get rid of the low PH soil and change it to a good one. Any recommendations on how to go through the motions? Thanks for your quick answers, you rock!!!

i realy don't recomend this, and be prepared for a rough recover....

take both hands and grab into the soil; work your hands into the dirt and around the main root stock. pull up the plant, by the root stock, and place in a new pot.

you will lose roots. your plant will be shocked and stressed. use superthrive in the watering after the transplant. takes roughly two weeks for them to get back to completely normal (+/- a week)

It will prob be easier and less traumatic to the plant if you just transplant- trying to dig the soil out from the pot is gonna tear the roots up worse than just sliding it out of the pot, giving it a light shake or 2, and dropping it in the fresh pot. Then give it
some water with superthrive @ 1 drop per gal. and take it easy with the strong light for a week.Should be good to go after that.

i would agree, but it's hard to do a transplant when the plant is already in a five gallon pot... :p

Miracle grow has a lot of time released Nuts in it. At least the stuff i used once, I burned the hell out of my plants with it. Will never use it again.

Did you add a lot of perlite to your soil to help it drain better?

I have never burned a plant with miracle grow moisture control and as far as nutes thats why I use it for my moms less hassle and the clones takereal weel for my aero grows.Im not sure how bif the plant is but might be a 2 person job.Id place the base of the stalk between fingers hand wide open then tilt it slowly upside down lightly pulling and give a little tug till it starts to slide out have the new bucket ready. My moms in 5 gallon buckets are usually about 3 feet at day 30 or so and the roots fill the entire bucket.Soil shoulkdnt ever be as wet as it sounds you got it

they have only been in the 5 gal pots for two weeks They are about a 1.5 feet high. So the roots haven't spread that much. I did not add any perlite, the soil came with some, I thought it was enough.
