you are smoking anyways why not hold it?

Standard neuropsychological tests, with known sensitivity to mild brain insults, included speed of visuo-motor responding, speed of language comprehension, response inhibition, and visual and verbal attention and recall tasks. Results indicated that the breath-hold divers performed tasks within the average range compared to norms on all tests, suggesting that 1-20 years of repeated exposure to hypoxemia [an abnormally low level of oxygen in the arterial blood] including multiple adverse neurological events did not impact on performance on standard neuropsychological tasks.

. The average breath-hold time was of five minutes and 35 seconds. The longest was of six minutes and 43 seconds and the shortest was of four minutes and 41 seconds.
2. The marker for brain damage, S100B, rose in seven of the nine divers.
3. The controls showed no change in S100B.
4. On average, S100B rose 37% within ten minutes after the apnea ended.
5. S100B levels returned to normal within two hours for all the participants.
6. The divers showed signs of asphyxia, that is, blood oxygen levels fell, while carbon dioxide levels rose.
According to a new scientific study, holding your breath for even a couple of minutes significantly increases the number of markers for brain damage in the body. However, the scientists who made the find say, the S100B protein seems to disappear shortly afterwards, which leaves some questions as to whether voluntary apnea (holding your breath on purpose) can cause severe and long-lasting effects on the human brain. Other details of the new investigation appear in the latest issue of the Journal of Applied Physiology.

The average person holds their breath for a minute or less! unless you really struggle to hold it longer! holding the smoke in while holding your breath is going to be no different than taking another hit! After you take a breath your lungs only supply oxygen to the blood stream for about 15-30 seconds.
The only reason not to hold your hits longer is because your lungs are no longer supplying the blood stream and the smoke is just settling on the in side of your lungs. Sure you might get brain damage if you are doing it while holding your breath for 5 min!

its funny how much people post about stuff they dont know about! if you dont know ask or google it! dont just spread stories about it causing problems! even if all the smoke from a hit settles in your lungs. how is that different than smoking a couple hits?
Unless you KNOW that my best friend Mary Jane is causing problems dont blame her!

actually its called tolerance. I could probably do this gauntlet and keep on tokin. If it was the first time I smoked id be comatose, but now I have to smoke every hour or so to maintain a high.
This would be worse than holding you hit in any day!

I don't know the science behind holding smoke in. I do know that i have trouble holding my breath for 30 seconds without a lungfull of soke. I also know that blowback works so not all of the good stuff is absorbed in the first few seconds or time frame for beneficially holding it in.

every sporting event has its risks.
Just in about any sport, you can get a TBI. Fuck dude you aint trying to win if you ain't risking brain damage.
I say keep the games you have, add some suggestions. Fuck add one to see who can hold a full vap bag in the longest. Do the motherfucking pot olympics til someone has lung failure, thats the only way I would accept first place and compete in something like this. It would have to be hard and challenging, your giving someone a title of winner in a smoking contest, it cant be fucking pansy.

LMFAO at this!
K Notice that crap you posted was scientific theory saying that MAYBE holding your breath won't cause any amount of brain damage, however these people were just holding their breath, they werent holding in a lung full of combusted plant matter.

Show me a scientific study that shows holding in smoke for 10 seconds or less does the same amount of damage as holding it in for 30+ seconds like was recommended in this thread.

Also, just because I said I COULD smoke that gauntlet and keep going doesn't mean I ever would. Its pointless to keep smoking at a certain point you're just not going to get higher, and if you do you aren't going to be having a very good time for long.

You're entitled to your opinion no matter how sarcastic and ill advised it is. You keep holding in your hits till you're blue in the face, I don't care. I'll keep doing things my way and not develop a nasty smokers cough.

At the end of the day, I could care less what you do to your body I just know I'd rather take care of mine, and I know it loves oxygen.

Peace.

Read my original post! and this from my other post "According to a new scientific study, holding your breath for even a couple of minutes significantly increases the number of markers for brain damage in the body. However, the scientists who made the find say, the S100B protein seems to disappear shortly afterwards, which leaves some questions as to whether voluntary apnea (holding your breath on purpose) can cause severe and long-lasting effects on the human brain" I said 15 seconds not until you are blue in the face! Dr taskin is the leading dr. in marijuana studies! If you are worried about brain damage from holding your breath, read more on the diving links I posted. Thc isn't causing brain damage. if you are worried about the effects on your lungs watch a couple vids by dr. tashkin! Holding in all the smoke from one hit would be about the same as taking a couple hits! I plan on smoking for many more years so holding a hit isn't really a concern! My daily smoking routine would be a gauntlet to a lot of people (no less than 7 grams plus edibles/tinctures)! My lungs are better than most! I ride my bike to take care of my parents 15 miles each way at least 4 days a week.
