Found out I can Legally Grow in CA, Started growing a Week later... First grow ever!

Plain and simple, I was under a rock for the last 4 years that i've been in CALI.

Got a card and headed straight to my local dispensary to pick up 4 clones.

Strain: Sugar Kush
Light: 2 x 32 watt 4' t8 fluoro
Time 18/6

day 1


day 2

into 3 gallon pots they went!
soil Fox Farm
Watered with 200ml 2 tspn added to 1 gallon jug of mag/cal
no nutes

day 3


my ladies shakin they thangs =)







Super excited and can't wait to see how they mature.

First and foremost, big shout outs to RIU.org... without you guys, I would have been drowning in a sea of information.

anything is fine, I would like to hear all the advice/critic you guys can offer.
anything on the strain would also be much appreciated.

You got some good looking healthy clones of some good bud! I will follow u throughout this grow if u promise to update! lol

Now.... honestly this is not ur first grow i take it :p just ur first Legal one? lololol

hilarious! Naw its my first, wish i could say i had a few under my belt but i cant. Thanks for the words of encouragement, already addicted to my plants and cant stop checking on them everyhour! Is that normal?

Ohhh yess that will happen! I have been growing for a good bit and still after work when i get home i bypass the wife and head straight to the grow room where i look at my Babies, then to the wife! Priorities Son!!!!! lololol check out my grow in my Signature!! I sub'd to urs! keep those pics coming

it's day 5 in the pots, and they just received their 220ml of water.
They are definitely growing, but I can't really tell if they are growing fast enough.

Could it be that my 64watts combined fluoros just aren't cutting?
What do you guys think?

Update*

So after doing some more research, I figured out that the 64Watts of t8 lighting wasn't sufficient enough to grow my babies.
Today I order 4 x 86 watt CFL's at 6500k from amazon, and stopped by home depot to pick up four light sockets and some temp 24watt Cfls.

Let me know what you think.. heres some pictures of my jimmy rigged set up =)

you may want to consider a hps for flower.my first grow was all cfls i used the 4' tubes like you.the bigger they get the more lights you will want it seemed every weekend i went to home depote for another 4 footer i drilled holes two on one side of the reflector so i could hang them for side lighting they came out great and with the money i saved i got a 400watt hps.

Haha thats so funny that you said you were at home depot every other weekend, ive been there every other day for the past 2 weeks.

And yes i ultimately plan on using hps hid for my flowering but just havnt pulled the trigger due to lack of funds.

Tell me, did you keep the fluoros going with your hps?
Or do you plan on continuing your fluoro usage for vegging?

hahaha i was at home depot doing the same throughout my grow! HPS will deff help but the Fluoro's grew denser bud than i thought it would!

Don't feel bad, I didn't get my card till june of last year. Off course I thought you would have to prove your need for Medical weed and I went in with a tube hanging out of me with a drain and a pile of medical records. About four of us went and got them at the same place and we took afriend 20 year old son. The rest of us had proof of our needs and the kid said he couldn't sleep. We all got our recommendation, including the kid. Anyway I am flowering my third crop, won't post pictures because I still scared of our lying gov.. I am doing better everytime. Now I got my friends giving me seeds, telling me where special clones can be had, I think they want to post there recommendation and have me grow it for them. I tell them one benefit of growing is the actual growing. It seems to have a calming effect on me and I am not as mad. By the way I am just learning. I was raised by people born and raised on farms in Kansas so I have alittle advantage. Happy growing!!!

I wish I would have seen this a few days ago. =P I already bought 85watt CFLs
definitely taking your advice on the HPS for flowering, I can already see the benefits of a HID light.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I too was really nervous when I went to apply for my card, but the doctor was super cool and understanding. 3rd crop! wow, already close to veteren status!
Your absolutely right about the calming effect of growing marijuana, I go into my grow room (walk in closet with carpet) and do my morning and evening stretches while taking in the great aroma of cannabis =) puts a smile on my face every time.

Update*

Ok, they have been in the 3 gallon pot for 11 days today! and my my they have gotten very big

3 strong and one runt of the litter, can't quite figure it out but she's taking her sweet ol time.
Yesterday was their 3rd watering/first with nutes, half dosage of recommendation for week 2 of the FF nute schedule and one tsp of cal/mag

on a side note, I was blown away when I opened the box for the 85Watt CFL's and she sheer size of them.

some leaves are showing a bit of stress, a little yellowing/black spots... new foilage seems to be nice and green so we'll just wait it out.
