Fox tailing ??

Hi all,

I had to go away for a few weeks and left my bro in charge of watering etc.. On my return I notice plant looks a little strange .. Bottom buds have like 60 to 70 % brown hairs but top buds look like they are stretching and leaves look a little odd .. Any ideas? Should I just chop?

Those do not look any where near done ? Perhaps they have been pollinated ?

Don't think they have been pollinated .. But could be wrong .. How would I tell if they had been? Also pic below of one of the lower buds ... Think it is a sativa so maybe a while to go .. Thanks

They will make seeds

Cannot see seeds at present .. Maybe I'll just leave it go a while and if seeds appear then I guess I'll look on the positive side and use them in the future

Anyone else seen this sort of thing?

Definately Sativa Dom strain,

If you are not sure just take a lower bud and dry and smoke.

Looks like it has more time to go, fox tailing is a very normal trait from Sativa genes.

Thanks DZ .. I'm more than happy to leave it go as long as it takes. Is it ok to snip a lower bud to test? Sorry only been growing for a couple of years so still fairly green

OP,
I have done sample smoking on many plants, never hurt anything.
I think a plant should be completely Clouded trichomes.
Trichomes are your best indicator for if a plant is finished.
Get a loupe only a few dollars and you will have accurate information.

Thank you again DZ I have one and on lower buds most cloudy and some Amber... On the top buds there appears to be very very little Trichomes at all

By looking at what you have there I may tend to believe it may have been a Light Issue. It just IMO I have seen what looks to be a lot like what happened to a friend of mine when He didn't notice his lights where Turning on and off because of a Poor Switch that keep heating up and tripping then resetting in 10 or so minutes. But it was enough to make his crop do what looks to be the same as yours.
Just wondering if someone may have went into the room and turned lights on at the wrong times, it only takes one or two times and the end result may be what you see there. if that did happen keep to your light cycle and hopefully they won't turn Hermie. they need more time for sure. Good luck I hope they resume into flower for you.

Bottom buds look ok with lots of brown hairs but top buds seem to be sprouting new stalks almost like when you first start flowering .. Should I chop the stalks off do you think?

I think I would leave them alone and see what happens, I think everything will be okay, a bit of time will tell. Good Luck

They look like theyre just starting flower. That plant looks a little strange, but whatever. Just letter go longer. Looks like your under a month of flower, no where near done. And those arent fox tails, theyre buds growing. Dont worry. Just wait three more weeks and theyll be nice and plump and frosty.

Sounds almost like it's been re-vegged ( light on too much. ).? the extra stalks are popping out of the buds.? Looks like it'll take another 4/6 weeks if otherwise healthy.. Happy growing,

Hi Gaz ,

Yes the extra stalks are popping out the main bud. I am quite happy to leave it go another 6 weeks or so but not sure what to do about some of the smaller lower buds as they have a lot of brown hairs on now. I have attached a pic. Should I harvest the smaller and popcorn buds now and leave the rest to grow or should I just leave it all to grow?

Yea why not take a few bottom buds n try them out- ( are trichs cloudy/amber.? ) - it'll help the top buds get more fatter ( hopefully)..! Goodluck , happy growing,
