They would crucify you for making this video in Canada!
That trip through the bar was some amazing flying. Are all the patrons clued in and told not to react to the drone in their faces as it gets filmed? They would crucify you for making this video in Canada!
I don't like it, but under 250gms in the US you don't need it, as for Canada...So rather than watching all those videos what's your perspective on the remote ID thing and how does that affect us Canadian flyers? I'll check the videos out later but just taking short breaks while I do some housekeeping and tidying up around here. The toilet sparkles!
I'm busy cleaning up and don't have time for a 22 min video atm so is why I asked for your assessment. I'll catch it later.I don't like it, but under 250gms in the US you don't need it, as for Canada...
Remote ID and Canada
It appears to be a concerted effort by western governments in Canada, the US and EU to kill the drone/RC hobby, mostly led by pilot types who run that part of transport Canada. There are measures like not being allowed to advertise an outdoor flying event like and RC meeting or drone race outdoors! Always having the drone in sight etc and FPV requiring a spotter. If you are flying in the sticks or abandoned buildings, or at a RC field the rules need to be relaxed for places where there are no others than participants. Kids under 14 are not allowed to fly outdoors even under the supervision of an adult so they are making sure to kill the hobby with the next generation or restrict it to under 250 grams. All this comes with the price of killing the domestic drone industry and RC/drones are a STEM educational activity, Science, Technology, Engineering and Materials, it covers them all. There are worse things teens can get up to than being outdoors flying drones and RC planes.I'm busy cleaning up and don't have time for a 22 min video atm so is why I asked for your assessment. Maybe a nice xmas prezzy for the grandson in there. This will set you back a grand in Canada, or if you already have an RC radio batteries and charger it would be cheaper. You could easily FPV this thing with a pan and tilt micro camera in the pilot's position, or a $25 all in one FPV camera/transmitter that you stick on with tape. Here it has the 2 big battery complete RTF (Ready To Fly) kit option. With Li-ion batteries it could have a lot more endurance than with a Li-po, but you might not be able to configure it for the lower voltages involved.

Sure...Maybe a nice xmas prezzy for the grandson in there.
I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with the drone I got. I may not even do that flying course and just eat the $50. Fun to play with but it doesn't seem to float my boat as much as getting back into tying flies and building rods then fishing them. Thinking of getting back into stained glass again too. My reflexes etc are definitely not what they used to be so I'll never be a 'flyer' of any note but can just work on being competent with the mini for photo ops and such. Photography has always been a hobby of mine and I still like shooting in film with my Canon AE-1s but if I had cash to spare I'd pick up a good digital on marketplace or somewhere. Where some guy has a decent camera with a bunch of accessories and you get lots of stuff for cheap. Or I get one that I can use my lens with an adaptor and go digital cheap.Sure...
A lot of people into photography and videography have drones since they can take great photos and videos from unique perspectives. With the proliferation of cellphones that can take great photos, it where photographers went, into the air. Even if you walked with the camera in the drone, I still think the steadycam feature will work to smooth out the video footage.I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with the drone I got. A nice digital that does HD video and a 3 gimbal hand mount that can be used on a tripod too and I have a couple good ones and few decent ones. Maybe make a trip up to the cabin next year and get some great footage in the Bridge River canyon and at the cabin. Nice waterfall at the end of the creek that drains our lake and already have thoughts of a nice flight along the creek bed below the falls, under the bridge toward the falls and a nice rise up to the top. Need to practise my control more by then. Will be able to charge batteries while driving around so might want a couple more of those. The charger can do 4 with 2 USB outlets too.
Why do the damn batteries lose charge so fast? I can fill them up and if it's been a few days I'll re-charge them and they are only blinking up to the 3rd light and take 20 min or so to be done. The controller seems to stay charged up for ages and could last a dozen batteries I think. My phone starts charging off it when I hook up too.
Yeah. With the drone on the camera still works like it was in the air so could use it as a steady cam for short videos but it gets hot without the props spinning to cool it off. Just got a message that my fly course only has 14 days left so that one is gone. No time to work on it in that period of time.
