Hello RIU,
I have an Illadelph that I picked up a few days ago. It stands 18" tall and has no perc, it's a straight tube and is black/platinum. It has a black down stem, and an 'ice pinch'.
My question is: if I leave the down stem and the bowl at room temperature, is it structurally safe to freeze the tube itself? I have the option of using ice on a regular basis, but I feel like it slightly impedes the flow of air that the bong was originally intended to produce. Also, a frozen tube feels like it actually cools the smoke better than the ice does.
Anyone with glass knowledge is encouraged to chime in if you have an opinion on the matter. I just don't want to add any unnecessary stress to the glass by constantly freezing and thawing it if it's going to result in the demise of my investment.
