Very noticeable difference. This is very interesting. Can't wait to see what happens in a week after the switch.

Hey daniels, I think I amd gonna get the 3000k color CMH after all, instead of the HPS for flower. Same wattage. This will let me switch them around, and even do experiments with each bulb all the way through hopefully. I have researched some on the 3k, and they appear to still produce well. I just can't find anyone who has experience with both.

Daniels, years ago I did a lot of research on lighting, everything you can imagine. One interest was photomorphogenesis. Stuff like tomato production increasing 30% using red mulch (plastic) in the field. There was a study done by Clemson University regarding spectrum filters and the effect aka photomorphogenesis, it had. I've got the link somewhere but gotta run now......

WOW Daniels, I thought you left us in suspense!! Not even sure if UB will be back with the link on that!! :)

A little inside joke UB, daniels likes to say he has pics then post 'em days later. He always has nice pics, so the suspense is killer!

Some of my early game playing was using blue painted side reflecting panels. Only benefit was getting to know that cute gal at the HD paint counter. :D
around here all the cute ones work at Menards not the Depot :)
but...specifically I found it odd that flowering time was controlled by the bluelight

Here's some pics. I switched them. Sure hope they quit stretching up, it's time to fatten. About 12"-14" from the IR Bulb.

Hey I also saw this on the lamp your using quote from petsmarts description "These bulbs provide infrared heat and very little visible light ideal for providing heat and some visibility without disturbing nighttime behavior. Depending on the needs of your reptile, you will need an additional bulb to provide visible daytime lighting, UVA and UVB lighting."

Doesn't that mean that that lamp produces no UVA UVB? It's the UV rays we are after right? ,not so much infared?

(edit) Okay Infared heat lamps produce no UV . Reptile basking lamps produce UVA and the flourscents produce UVA and UVB. Note all of this info is based soley on the product descriptions of the lamps.

He's trying to simulate sunrise and sunset with the infrared. Only at lights on and lights off for like 15 minutes each.

Oh, sorry. Yeah he thought it did give extra UV, but the CMH still gives off what is probably enough for what he got, plus he removed the cool tube from the CMH so he doesn't block any of what he's got. Sorry if you already posted daniels, ended up on a new page and didn't see. Figured your on the road now anyhow. Have a good weekend, hope you took plenty of meds! :)

I'm beat from a long day but it's obvious the Heat Bulb gave the left plant a sunburn. If I was here I would have decreased the bulb from 30 min to 15. I had it pulled when I heard about this a couple days ago. It was the one that got a sunburn a few weeks ago so maybe susceptible. Here's a couple pics.

so the plant you moved to the right still hasnt caught up with the one that started in that position, huh? that sunburn looked rough, but nothing she wont recover from. a lot of good growth though, i bet you were surprised as hell to get home!!!

Just curious, what kind of side panels are those? They look good and effective. I used side panels with 3 coats of thinned white latex paint. Without any plants the effect was blinding! A 30% increase in useable light to all levels can be expected with properly placed side reflecting panels.

BTW, after kicking the light thingie around alot, I realized that the plants really don't care. They will do equally well with mixed light or pure HPS from start to finish. Good light is fine, but it's certainly not everything. I think the PAR emphasis by some is over done.

The inside of this Deep Freeze is white, not glossy but not flat either. It is blinding.:-P
I get what your saying about them not caring. I figure I have to learn to read them more than anything.

I'll use a scalpel to trim those burnt tips tonight. The pics look better than in person. I lost those tips of the Colas. Oh well. I may take her downstairs under the dual 150W HPS and leave #3 in here to finish. Have to think about it.

That's right along the lines of what I'm planning. There's money to be made helping people grow their own meds.
