hi everyone ive been on rollitup for about a year but havent grown anything till now

my plan is to start indoors and move outside when it gets nice out. i already have a spot outside im going to use (in a forest). as for inside im planning to use a rubber maid bin i dont know the dimentions but it just gets into my closest (i have alittle trouble closing it ) for lights i picked up (5) 26watt cfl lights (1750 lumens) and (1) 42watt (2700 lumens) personally i have no idea if this is enough or if its over kill???

i bought 5 kaya seeds and i started one from my cluelessness of when ill be moving outside(not for another few months) with only 5 seeds is the lighting too much or too little an explanation would be apreciated grately!!??

thats all for now ill try uploading pictures so u can see what im working with and as i go

hey everyone so just an update i guess the one seed i started germinating has got its white root thing and again have no idea what to do other then the general quote" put it in the soil" should i put the root thing poingin down or sideways or does that thing point up? help? and if theres any help with the lighting question... (5) 26watt cfl lights (1750 lumens) and (1) 42watt (2700 lumens) is this over kill to grow in a rubbermaid tub for as of right now 1 plant?

another update today i had to re pot my plant becausei put it in one that wouldnt drain hope it will survive and after that i went to the store and picked up a theromometer and with 3 lights going its around 95 degrees and 2 is 90 so i dropped it back down to one light hopefully it will be in the 80's hopefully somtime i can pick up a moisture scale to see when i need to water may plant

hey so my plant has been in the ground for 7 or so days now and it doesnt seem to be growing at all it still a small green nub reading another grow jornal it sounds like i might have put the wrong amount of light on it they said i think " 2 26 watt cfl per plant for veg" and ive only had one 46 watt maybe it will have a differnce since i changed it im also worried about a fan idk what kind to get i need a really quiet one im thinking of just a computer fan has anyone ever wired one to a battery or a wall socket before? would it short out or anything? any help would be greatly apprecated... ill get a pic up my my plant

hi everyone day 13 my plant still wasnt looking good (and looking from now to the pictures i posted it turned alot more yellow) and thoughti would change the soil and in the proccess the stem snapped but i planted the roots and stem seperately... hoping it might still live but i started a new seed this time i just planted it no germination i just want to see a plant actually grow. wish me luck hope this time it works

hi everyone another update day 5 for the new plant and the other one around 18 but i think its dead ill check the root system in a day or two can u same them? i dug alittle to see if i could see a plant growing in the new one and saw a small white root so it seems to have opened and is growing no ground breaking yet but it looks alit better then my first one my temps r around 90-95 im trying different ways to get them down i bought a fan and have it blowning from med to low (cant have it to loud)i also tryed making making a teapee shape with a cloth and stick so the heat isnt staying low with the plants i would leave it open but ... (light issues)

hmm sometimes i wonder if people actually are reading this.(day 7) but exciting news from the 2nd plant its growing and doesnt look like its dead!!! one of its pedals is bent down but im not worried ive read it somewhere on riu. i planted the other three seesds without germmination scarred from the first plant i did , so thats the last of my 5 seeds, also today i changed rubbermaid containers this one is alittle more box shaped and alittle bit bigger, just thinking ahead when i do need to put more lights in wont it heat up faster, i guess ill just have to turn up the fan, i guess ill find someway to drown it out, when my other 3 sprout or when i get my camera ready ill post some pictures so excited for one plant to be growing and look like everyone elses lol

just another update day 10 for new first one and day 3 for the other 3 plants, it seems like they should have sprouted but not really, i have a feeling it gets to cold (65 is that col for plants?) without the lights on so ill move the 3 when the lights go off onto my computer for warmth seemed to work for the actual growing one, it will get easier when they sprout.. ill make sure to name them (all girls names ofcouse)
i was also thinking of a heating pad? is this a waste for the "night time" warmth?

In the last picture your soil looks way too wet, watch out for over watering

I like the lighting setup you have for those CFL's man, did you wire them yourself? I have 2x three bulb vanity fixtures that I wired up and they work great. With some Y splitters you could have 6 bulbs in each fixture if you wanted. I'm not sure if they would fit or not they might be too close together.

yup wired them myself sorta they didnt have the plug so just had to add that,looking around riu i havent seen anyone with these kinds of 3 way lights, they look sorta old and i dont want to try frying them with that many splitters (also the heat from it all) but ill keep it in mind if i need more light. i just took some pictures of my 2nd plant (only one thats up right now) there kind of blurry camera is acting strange.

sorry really bad editting job on that last one it was so faded because of the light but it shows sorta how big it is

end of thread, had to stop growing where i live, gave the plants to a friend hope to see them again sometime happy growing everyone

yeh that happened to me too. I will start a new grow in about a week tho
