Hey bro's

Fruit flies in grow space. They have been there for a couple weeks and have definitely bred so I doubt that they're gnat coz the plants look fine. It's getting abit crowded there though. Whats the dilly dealing with these sonsabithces. Thanks

Sounds like you are growing in soil, if so put 1 inch of sand ontop of your soilin your pots. Next put out some yellow paper sticky fly traps next to the soil. Your problem will clear up in a few days.

Also water your plants a bit less. I would bet your soil stays moist most of the time. After the gnats or flya go away you can water normally.

Are you using Fox Farm soils? They come with 20-30 gnats INCLUDED FREE OF CHARGE!! Really cool that they do that right!? Great for my garden (><) ................ Anyway, I thought they were gnats, they don't have an effect on my garden, just fucking annoying. Either way; I picked up some vapor free, natural bug strips for the initial onslaught. But what really saved me was solo cups, cut in half; with a small solution of water + fruity soap + vinegar - the fuckers all fly in there and drown. It cut down my gnat/fruit fly problem within 4 days; almost to zero except I keep needing to introduce new soil. FML FF. GL.

water with BTI or bacillus thurgensis , kills them in a week by stoppin reproduction, i didnt even use new sticky cards just to see if they died. almost as good as raid!

i used both AN tarantula and great white myco. i mightve done overkill...but my prob was bout as bad as can get. were munching my roots bad, and flying around my living area while trying to sleep! also same ingredient in mosquito dunks...

Fly strips do work well. I agree suck em out if you can. ladybugs help with invaders but idk if they eat nats/fruit flys or not. orcon sells predatory bugs that will eat most invaders but again idk about nats. Good luck!

better make sure you don't have root aphids. at the adult stage they turn into something that looks like a gnat/fruit flys. the time I had them plants had no prob all through 2 months veg then around 3 or 4 weeks flower is when prob started. the whole time I thought I had gnats but turned out to be root aphids. worth a check they can destroy your whole crop and if your seeing flyer it means your already infested.

You bro's are absolutely on point. Am growing in soil BioBizz. Am watering more now coz they're thirsty as a mofo. Gotta see where I can buy lady birds and ill research BTI. Tarantulas...gotta be honest not a 100% on that but different strokes and all. Thanks.

I'm guessing you have gnats. gnats are usually just annoying and always seem to be around. this time around i got a bunch of yellow and blue sticky traps and put them in my tent for a couple of weeks. i also have a pretty strong fan blowing on my plants as well. i got probably hundreds of them in the traps. those are the flying adults. you'll still have the larvae in the soil in some amount depending on what stage of their life cycle they are in. probably nothing to worry about. however, this grow i bought some scanmask beneficial nematodes from planet natural and mixed up a batch of them and added it to my water after the yellow stick trap procedure. i've only seen a couple flying gnats since then.

good luck!

Those fungus gnats appear harmless and don't seem to be damaging your plants but the larvae are damaging your roots.
If you see flyers, you have lots of them in your soil. A female fungus gnat can lay 200 eggs and 90% of fungus gnats are female. The damage is slow and progressive. while it will most likely not kill your plant, it will affect your yields and you will start to see necrosis on older leaves, and nothing will match any deficiency charts. I use the bacteria also. The company that makes mosquito dunks has a new product.
You sprinkle it on the soil and it is introduced with each watering.
It is called Mosquito Bits, and is less messy. I sprinkle all my plants soil with this now.

Hi RockyMtnMan
Do you still use mosquito bits?

I have used this 3 weeks ago approximately.
I only used bits without any other thing like pest strips and what not.as they are very expensive here.
on the first week and 2 they were really gone,
but the third week they came back with vengeance, multiplying in numbers.
every other watering I see 5-7 flying around, not more than that.
I will be chopping next week , have already started flushing. Do you think I should sprinkle more on top of the soil now. Or should I just let them be and harvest the plants?
what do you think?

I am asking because I want to save the rest of the mosquito bits for the next harvest, if I sprinkle now I think i will waste as they will be irrelevant in the coco medium next week.
