This is more of a rant. I just got a job yesterday from some distribution company.
they had like 30 of us in a room after we had gotten an interview some days before.
it seemed legitimate as they were offering a base salary of 2000 a month for what
they call a "customer service" position only to find out later its actually a sales job trying to sell an overpriced vaccum cleaner from kirby. I had first thought this company was through a construction company but found out that wasnt true.

when they had 30 of us in a room i felt like this was kind of weird but kept listening to her talk to everyone. she was saying that for practice we had to get 12 references from other people saying we showed them the vaccum and then we would get a free one(this i guess was for "practice reasons. dont know much more about it since i end up leaving early). and then after we would get all done"training" we would team up with a field manager and he would take a crew of us to sell these vaccums..

I couldnt really find anything wrong with this until i came back the next day and started asking questions about how this was all going to work, and where the rest of thse "so called employees" of hers were that she talked so much about. she started saying we wouldnt get paid for 3 weeks. that was a red flag. and then she started getting really defensive like she was trying to hide something from me. and started accusing me that if i dont want this opportunity that i should go work at mcdonalds.. oh and that her employees were on some road trip

thats when i blew up. I was just trying to be a nice person and ask questions to make sure it was legit, but instead she goes accusing me of not having a positive attitude... fuck that. cussed her out right then and there and left. later today i found out that they do some sketchy stuff and get you to sign a contract wich dismisses them from paying you what they promised... saw a vid on youtube about this...

theres a video on this whole thing. stuff like this pisses me off especially since shit is hard enough as it is without people trying to waste my time and screw me over. not even just about them screwing me over but a bunch of people who were in there with some depressing shit to deal with and now this lady. pathetic.

day ruined. sit back and smoke this shit away and back to finding a job...

thats the end of my rant:leaf::leaf::bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:

I knew someone who worked for Kirby. From the stories I heard, the corporate culture has much in common with a hard-line religious cult. cn

Look up Vector Marketing and cutco knives...they do the EXACT same shit...at least they didn't make you pay for a vacuum to sell it like they do at Vector(make you buy knives to sell)...I have a small set I bought off someone...they are actually really nice knives...but fuck are expensive...

They'll do anything to sell you one of those things, I bought one.

By the time they left my floors were spotless from them cleaning the entire place (to show me it was worth it), dropped the price down to like 1,300 bucks, threw in some extra belts and other hose connections and shit, and the woman (who was the guys wife) gave me a blowjob while he was in the kitchen making me dinner. They were totally cool with it as long as they made a sale.

lol selling kirby vacs. very nice vacs btw but i hear you on the scam of duping people into working there.

same thing with those damn knives. i know a guy who sold kirbys and a 3 people who got roped into that knife scam. it was awful. they were hassling everyone to buy their shit. you couldn't chop a carrot without one of them chiming in about how much better it would be with one of their fancy knives. they all seem to be taken with the orientation presentation of cutting the penny

any time a company has to "sell themselves" to a prospective employee during a recession that's a major red flag. those companies prey on college kids for the most part. bastards.

Kirby has been marketing there vacuum cleaners the same way. In 1978 I worked for a couple of weeks for Kirby. I made 500 a week during training.
There work horses that were unique and powerful, you could even get a wood lathe attachment.
I was hard to sell 30 years ago and it would be hard now. Its not really a scam but I wouldn't recommend it.

This one hits home, i have done the whole kirby thing, "we will have appointments set for you" turned into knocking on doors, trying to sell a $3000 vacuum, not to mention they basically wanted you to scam your way in. Then when the "closer" comes in and sells it to them for $1200 instead of the $3000 you suddenly make NOTHING, even though you had nothing to do with it. Pyramid skeme big time.
My wife did the whole cutco thing before we got together, all she got is a scar on her leg from fucking with the knife in the wrong position.

Dude my main man started on one of these companies that sells "cut co" knives i think they are called vector or some shit. Anyways he worked hard sold lots of product for a shitty salary but the bosses saw this and gave him his own office where now he now hires recruiter to find people like you... just remember he started like you.

I am not trying to hate on you, but i am saying work hard in any shitty job and it will pay off..... my friend has a Lamborghini with his own huge house at 28.

what you see as sketchy may be concerning to new employees but it will make you money if you become a manager..

I think "cutcos" sketchiness is that if you get a friend to work for them you get 20% of their sales. ( that why i got a degree and became an engineer lol) but much respect that my friend made it that far i mean think about it your own fucken office in a new city and the main office trust you. :)
