So i went to the gas station today and bought 6 dollars and some cents amount of gas with my debit card. So i didnt get a reciept cause i see it as a waste of paper. Anyways i just got home to see how much left in had in my account, cause i had like 30 in there. Well i get home and they charged me 90 dollars, what should i do?

stop in tomorrow, explain the situation, and show you're not backing down. I go through this a lot with my bank, and am currently a summer overdrawn over less than 30 dollars worth of merchandise. they've made almost 2 grand in bullshit overdrafts off of me this year, but if u catch them soon enough, they'll make it go away

Fuck banks!

I found that paying for shit with a debit card was bullshit, I got a credit card. You can dispute charges and all that goodness :)

I also try not to leave a lot of $ in the bank so they can't steal it all :P

well, since u only bought 6 bucks worth of gas, id say u probly have a small car haha. go to the bank, and show them the car. ask them why would i spend 90 dollars on gas for that? the tanks not even big enough!

yea i bitch whenever they do that crap to me and they usually drop the overdraft fee. such a stupid concept- you didnt have the money in the beginning so instead of saying denied they think u can afford the 60$fee.

It's an authorization for 90, they'll only charge your account $6, but your bank will hang to $90 til they do.

this is most likely issue.. we have 1 company (multiple stations) here in town that put a $75 hold on your card no matter of how much you actually pump... it will fall off in a day or so then only charge the pumped total... gas stations started doing this when gas prices went ont he rise and people were stealing gas and such

Yep i have actually had quite argument with my credit union and Gate gas bc i pumped $20 worth of gas and used the debit method which pulls straight out with no hold supposedly.. i had like 40 in my account so i didnt think to check, went to the store and got something for like $4 and cha ching..overdraft bc they held $75 from my DEBIT purchase... nice $35 fee for the overdraft but ended up fighting it and got the $35 back..

thats bullshit. they should make the systems recognize that the extra charges are HOLDS, and not debit charges. then it wouldnt put an overdraft fee in. but i guess thats why they dont put it in... lol

It takes 3 fucking days for an electronic transfer.

Banks are fucking retarded, they don't take to smart logical ideas.

I had the same problem, got 20$ worth of gas with 50$ in the account then went to the store to buy 20$ worth of stuff and got declined at the check out, so i found the prob online and called the gas company and bitched, they released the hold, money back in account in an hour. but, if you go inside to pay they dont put a hold on your account.

yea me and my girl have a few accounts to keep things safer... like we have our savings at a credit union, but we have three checking accounts, one for bills, one for personal uses, and one for work... we ended up getting $750 in overdraft fees with tcf, because an airline ticket i bought for work posted 2 weeks after the purchase... well because the assistant manager was a complete cockface we ended up getting everything except for $70 refunded, and i closed the account shortly afterward... they hadnt bother to inform us that overdrafts were happening, had over 25 overdrafts, because typically when i travel i end up with many charges over the course of a day... literally racked all those up in a few days... gotta be careful, and stick it to them fuckers if they fuck with you...

tell me about it

i had about 90 bucks in bullshit charges with bank of america(i seriously hope they die lol). atm i cant recall what they were for. anyways, i go and get one taken off, and i pay like 60 bucks for the other 2 charges. i then tell the girl to close my account. i was even talking to the people sitting at the desk, not the teller. she asks some info, and makes sure i want to close it. i tell her yes, so all is well.... i guess except having to pay 60 bucks

that was about 2 months ago. i have 2 monthly statements from the last 2 months, saying i have zero dollars in my account. so apparently she just took my money and pretended to close my account. and im just too lazy to go to the bank AGAIN and close it AGAIN

What? The teller TOOK YOUR money?

GET THAT BITCH FIRED! FUCK HER THAT'S SOME BULLSHIT!

This is turning into a rant about banks thread.

Personally, once I have enough spare cash, I'm just buying a safe, cashing all cheques, and keeping them in the fireproof safe.

I had 450 cash in my bank account, and a 450 balance on my credit card. I transferred the cash 2 days ago and it still hasn't removed the balance from my card. It's STILL pending. Tell me, WHAT THE FUCK IS PENDING?

I mean money doesn't even exist anymore. It's not like they have to move gold bullion across the country
