Here are some Early Durban shots. No clue how long they've really been flowering. Some of the pics look like the same plant multiple times, but its not. Each new line of pics will show different plants.

IMG_1007.jpgIMG_1009.jpgIMG_1010.jpg

Now a few pics of my Durban Poison leaning lady. She's got a loooong way to go. She really stands out among her sisters. Such a pale green compared to the rest. Much like the Satori lady that was pale from birth.

IMG_1012.jpgIMG_1013.jpg

Now another lady.

IMG_1015.jpgIMG_1014.jpgIMG_1019.jpg

And now a groupshot. Thats the remaining Chunky on the right of the pic. She's a slow one.

Well, everyones been hoping for some harvest pics, so Ill throw some up of the Chunky Cindies.

Yield was crap as expected, but Chunky A & D were clearly the heavier yielders. All the ladies were just about equally frosty. One stands out a little bit than the others in my eyes though. There was no smell whatsoever when freshly chopped from them. Now they smell just like hay of course. Ill try to save a small amount to cure for a couple of weeks to see if they pick up any kind of smell.

Ive got a couple of smoke reports for Chunky A & B, in the order I have smoked them. I wrote down these reports while still experiencing them so I have a better idea of what I was really feeling at the time.

Chunky B report comes from 2 days ago I think. Chunky A is today/tonight.

Chunky B

Well, I got to smoke test Chunky B tonight. Not quite at the right moisture level yet, but was still a somewhat smooth smoke. No harshness, but a bit of coughing on bigger hits from the bong. Maybe .75 grams between 3 people.

I like to judge strains by driving. How it affects me while driving tells me alot about whether I want it around. Its how I judge potency.

Chunky B combines things I most love from Indicas and Sativas about driving, while high.

Indicas make me freak out a bit while driving. I get tunnel vision, and completely forget where I am at, or where I am going sometimes. Othertimes Ill know where I am, but not quite sure where I am going. Weird things Indicas do to me while driving. Driving takes forever, and I hate it while high on Indies. Im just trying to get home asap, but it always seems to take forever with me freaking out most of the way home. I do like the moments where I forget where I am going, but I know exactly where I am. The road also takes on a videogame feel at times. I like that feeling. The downside, Indicas make me feel like im in a stupor most of the time.

Sativas on the other hand, do not freak me out while driving. Music sounds fucking amazing, and I love driving. I love going anywhere while high on a Sativa. No tunnel vision, I know exactly where I am going, and where I am at. I dont freak out in the slightest. Give me my sativa queen, and Im completely content. Once in a blue moon, they give me that euphoric feeling that I always treasure, but it is usually fleeting.

Now onto the high of Chunky B.

She started out slow, a bit of a creeper. It took her about 15 minutes for me to realize she's really exerted some influence on me. Before you knew it, I was in a lulling stupor, and not wanting to get off my butt and drive home. All I could do was sit there and stare off into the distance. I was still quite talkative though. The lulling stupor and couchlock of an Indica, but she had me talking like I had smoke a Sativa.

Finally I managed to get off my butt and drive home, and it wasn't quite the sativa drive I get where I love every second of it, but somewhere in the middle.

I remained in the lulling stupor for about 10 minutes barely paying attention to the music, or even knowing where I was going, but I knew exactly how to get there, and this was the first time I had to drive this route. I have a shitty memory too, and would have totally gotten lost while sober.

Slowly the lulling stupor began to lift, and my spirits rised with it. Driving was becoming more enjoyable, as well as the music. I was paying attention to each word in the songs, and singing to my hearts content now.

The Indica side had me feeling like I was driving in a racecar game. I wasn't quite sure where I was always headed to, but I knew how to get there anyways.

Driving went by pretty quickly like it does when Im on a sativa.

So far everything I do like about Indicas and Sativas were combined in one while driving, and Im still enjoying it quite well right now. Id give her an 8.5 right now, but Ill smoke her a couple more times before making final decisions on her.

Okay, I think this has rambled on enough. I hope the rest of the ladies are as good, or better.

Chunky A

I got to smoke Chunky A twice today, and I have no desire to smoke it again.

The first time I smoked it, for the first 30 minutes It was an unsettling high. No freaking out or paranoia, but just a high you dont want to experience. I had lots of different sensations coming and going with me zoning out while driving. Its like the high couldn't figure out what effects to give me, so it gave me them all, but I mostly felt the ones I didnt want.

I didn't enjoy music, or driving. I just didn't enjoy anything. I wasn't in a stupor or couchlocked. Once in a blue moon the sativa effects would shine through for a few moments. Like being in a good mood, or enjoying music, but they were gone as fast as they arrived. Shit I didnt even sing to my music that now sounded ho-hum.

Once I felt a nice mellow high for about 5 minutes, but overall it was just a downer.

Definitely not suitable for someone that may suffer from depression.

She's definitely being removed from my garden. Ill flower out two clones I have of her, and be done with her.

Even the second time I smoked it, it was the same stuff. Its like why did I just smoke this again? It makes me feel down.

Disappointing part is that she's the biggest yielder :(.

I was thinking about that earlier today after having finally sampled 5 of the Chunky Ladies. None of them had enough Sativa traits, or enough intensity to satisfy my needs. Theres just too much indica shining through for me to really enjoy.

Ive always wanted to take a stab at certain mind altering drugs, but never gotten around to it. I definitely think I would be staying inside if I got to try them out.

Ill do a quick report for the remaining ladies, and give my final conclusion. I expect the 6th one still flowering will follow along the same lines as its sisters.

Chunky D

Chunky D was much like B. It combined many of the effects of Indicas & Sativas that I do find enjoyable, but not as many of those effects as I would like. It did make up for it in that department as being more intense. Id say a fair combination of traits with some decent potency, but I want stronger, and more sensations. I want a complex high, like Chunky A was, but an enjoyable one rather than unsettling.

Potency: 8.5 for me. Probably a 6.5-7.5 for more experienced smokers.

Chunky E

Chunky E was a pleasurable smoke. Its a toss up between D & E who is best. E was more upbeat, but not as intense as D. There were more sativa traits, with only short moments of stupor or dull mindedness from the Deep Chunk side.

Potency: 8 for me. 6-7 for more experienced smokers.

Chunky H

Chunky H was nothing great. Its potency was low even for me. I felt good, but just not really stoned. Good for eating though. Made me eat crap food from Burger King. I dont have much more to say about this one, but she's not being kept around.

Potency: 7 for me. 5-6 for more experienced smokers.

Overall conclusions, barring one remaining lady flowering, I wouldn't bother to grow out any more of them from seed. A good smoke if you are used to decent mids, but theres no doubt better strains out there to grow. I wont be keeping any of the ladies in my rotation for too much longer.

Thanks for the info DC, I think I will cross that one of my list.

Peace
Yeah, I was expecting better. Ive never tried C99, but the two ladies that had more sativa effects didn't exactly impress me alot.

I still have another strain of CannaCopia to grow. Im not sure If I even want to pop the seeds now. Im gonna pick up some of Mr. Nice Black Widow soon, so I think they'll replace the LemonGrass Thai x Deep Chunk in my next grow. It'd definitely be the right option.

Im gonna try out the 3rd D tonight, and see what I think of it.

Well, I tried out the 3rd D, and JTRB yesterday.

3rd D was well.. pretty forgettable. It was a fairly clear headed high, a bit upbeat, but just nothing really stood out about it. I rated it a 7, and my buddy gave it a 6.25. Id reach for a couple of the Chunky ladies before 3rd D again. This was only one plant, so I really have no idea how good the strain really is.

JTRB was a definite improvement over 3rd D. JTRB was a uplifting high that had me in good spirits. It made me talkative, and just all around in a good mood. If you suffer from depression, then there might be something here for you. It wasn't euphoric or blissful, but it puts a smile on your face. A good mood enhancer I would say. You wont get so messed up everyone knows you are high, but you'll definitely enjoy whatever you are doing more. I was watching some crappy VH1 show, and was having quite a few good laughs after smoking this lady.

She isn't very potent or intense. About an 8 on my scale, but how the weed effects my mood is more important than potency to me. She doesn't have all the qualities I am looking for though, but still the one Id reach for over the rest of the ladies sampled.

She yielded decent for being seeded I suppose. I got 30 grams from her. Much more than the 4.4 grams I got from 3rd D..

Her buds are light and fluffy. More like spongy really. She has a somewhat musky lemon cleaner smell to her. Im hoping the smell will come back real strong after a two week cure.

I just looked at the strain descriptions for this and have to say I didn't really experience many of the effects that are claimed to be.

High type-Intense, trippy, visual, phase shifting, increased heart rate, heavy crash increased appetite, pain relief, paranoia

Intense: No. Trippy: No. Phase shifting: No. Increased heart rate: No. Heavy Crash: Possible. It definitely made me sleepy when I was coming down off it. This I do like as I suffer from sleep problems, and I did get a pretty good sleep after smoking her. Pain Relief: Yeah, I didn't notice my back pain much. Paranoia: A bit, but I was also transporting plants in my car during the high as well.

Ive still got JTRC to smoke, but my buddy has already smoked her, and said he gave it a 6-6.25, so I probably wont get much out of it too, but we'll see.

Based off this one lady, I think there would be enough interest to explore more of this strains offerings, but seeing as how they never healed from super cropping, I wont be doing any exploring.

I had some new pics, but I just realized while looking at them, there was a smudge on my camera lens that fucked up all the shots.

Ive got a few pics of a Skunk Haze clone from SHA that I can show though. I love how quickly this lady recovers from being cropped. Ive actually had to resort to tieing her down because cropping doesn't work. She returns to an upright position within 5 days or so.

i love all of this!

even the dangerous potency test! haha just pulling your leg, i get where you're coming from!
Hehe. Yeah, Im still waiting on that dangerous potent stuff to arrive :). I think my best and really only hope at this point to get something very potent will be the Skunk Hazes. Ive read a few grow journals over at ICMAG, and the consensus is "watch out when you smoke this." Ive never seen anyone say anything bad about it except a few instances of nanners after 12 weeks +. I hope the hermie traits are rare, as I want to pop alot of f2s in the future.

Im glad your enjoying the journal. Its been a bit of a clusterfuck so far, but I hope were finally turning the corner. Im keeping a very close eye on the clones, and inspecting them each time I visit them. Ive pulled maybe 3-5 seeds total from the 7 clones I put in there a couple of weeks ago. I dont know if there is still stray pollen in the area, or if it hitched a ride with me as I have male clones flowering at a different location. I may have caught a few hitchhikers along the way. Gonna need to be extra careful about collecting pollen.

Dave, I would suggest that you let all of this smoke cure for a 2 to 6 months. You may have a different opinion about potency, smell, taste. It took my Satori 6 months to cure to the desired effects. Just some food for thought. Also I have to agree with Uncle Ben's man to man. Peace

I wish I could give them all a good cure before making final decisions, but I just cant. Id have to save more product to test it at monthly intervals, and mother plants would end up taking space, that I feel would be better suited for new strains I want to try out. If a plant can't give me the potency and desired effects right away, I just can't justify keeping a mother around for a few more months to see if a cure has greatly improved things.

There are too many strains I want to grow out and try, so It doesn't bother me to dismiss a strain without a good cure. Eventually Ill find a lady that gives me what I want without a cure, and then I can delve into how curing effects her.

There are also other criteria that greatly influence on whether or not Ill keep one around. All the ladies I have currently dismissed as long term keepers have problems going back to veg that make me not want to grow them much longer.

Chunky Cinderella is too slow in veg, and the high doesn't justify the slow veg time. Plus no smell whatsoever during flowering. I want something that tantalizes my nose.

JTR & 3rd D are very vigorous veggers. Fastest strains Ive had the pleasure of growing, but they can't be super cropped, and are too sensitive to over-watering.

Since you have grown Satori, would you care to describe the effects, smells, etc of your lady? I sorta got shafted on mine this time around, and would like to know what I am missing.

I understand what your saying. As far as the Satori,it's very leafy but plenty of trichomes that were mostly cloudy. It smelled like raw beef marinating in garlic for the first 5 months. It wasn't fun opening the jar LOL. Around six months it has a sweet light fruit smell. Initially the high was laid back but up, it increased the intensity of my muscle spasms in my back. So it wasn't good. Now it is way more potent, energetic and up, but I don't have to be moving around if I don't want to be, very uplifting but not really euphoric, it distorts my vision making everything seem much larger and closer. It doesn't increase my pain now, but it also doesn't decrease it. It enhances most of the senses in a good way, and lasts for about 3 hours with a smooth landing. Peace

I recently made a friend who runs a co-op, and they have a solution for that, and it works pretty well for them i guess.

They set up a system of visquine plastic sheet curtains. 2 at the entry of every room, and inside the sheets there are what seem like medical jumpsuits. they have a pair for each room male or female.

Apparently they only sunk about $100 into it, and they still have a huge roll of visquine plastic with dust gathering haha.

Ive read a few reports of the garlic pheno, but it seems to be a rare one. Im not sure if you are lucky or not. :?

Thanks for giving me a report on it. Really makes me want to give it another go, but I really need either an indica or indica hybrid that helps with my lower back pain and sleep problems. Sativas ime, dont deliver in that area. I think I will probably pick up 10 Next Generation Romulan seeds for my next grow instead of more Satori. Its a popular strain, but you rarely see grow or smoke reports for it. Hopefully I can provide it for anyone here interested in it.

Damn, sounds like the quarantine scene straight of ET. :) Im not sure I want to go that far. Ill probably just shower and switch clothes after handling the males here. I hope that will eliminate any stray pollen catching a ride.

I thought I would show a few pics of the Skunk Haze males flowering. There seem to be 3 separate phenos.

Here is the fast flowering male. He's flowered faster than the other two. He's dropped plenty of pollen. Tightest clusters of pollen sacks of the three. Skunk #1 dominant perhaps? Its hard to differentiate based on appearance during veg. Its only during flowering have I been able to tell the differences among them.

IMG_1300.jpgIMG_1301.jpgIMG_1302.jpg

Here is the 'inbetweener'. He doesnt have the same tight formation of pollen sacks as the first male, and doesn't flower as fast. In fact he hasn't released alot of pollen, but developing second fastest.

IMG_1303.jpgIMG_1304.jpgIMG_1305.jpg

Now here is my hazy male. He's taking forever to flower, and has continued to put on new nodal growth for awhile now. Im going to pollinate my hazy lady with him, and keep those seeds separate from the other Skunk Haze F2s I will be making. Id like to explore the haze side of this cross in the next generation. Hopefully they're offspring will give me that opportunity.

Go to this post to see what he looked like on the 22nd.
