Fungus in Ponytail Palm (elephant foot) planter

I have this fungus growing in the planter with my ponytail palm in it. It just popped up.today. The soil is miracle gro cactus blend mix.
1. Is it harmful?
2. Is it there just because the soil is too moist?

No.. probably not.. i get it in some of my potted plants outside normally.. was this outside by chance,, not that it needs to be .. A spore from outside can come in and get on it..

I repotted it outside, but it has been inside since it got put in that pot.

Looks like a type of slime mold.

It has dried up and started to go away or disappear. Although it looks like a little bit more may be showing up as well. I scooped up what I could with a spoon, put in a plastic bag, and threw it away.
