If your a male and post a "dumb" question or guess basic should be a better word you will be flamed or ignored.
Change that to a female name and no question too dumb no flaming no look it up comments haha you guys are crazy, but hell keep on growing ladies we need more of you.
 
I was thinking the same like they weren't having good luck posting and getting answers so let's make a nice screen name and bammm the thirst works everytime.
 
it always depends on the tone they use. i dont even look at user names most of the time. just the avis if anything.

if someone says "hey i wanna start growin, tryna make money and weed, what do i need to grow 1 lb." then they get the "GOOGLE IT YOURSELF" post

if someone says "hey, i wanna start growin, heres my available grow area, my budget, my expected goal, and maybe some light/medium ideas that i have, can anyone help?" then this person gets a very detailed reply because they took the time to ask a detailed question.

I always made sure to google before asking questions and if i still came up confused id post a well written question explaining my situation and id often get very good replies back because of this.

just my 2 cents.
 
Questions from girls tend to be much longer and much less specific.

Guys are like.... "what the fuck is this?"

Girls are like... "Bla bla bla bla, Bla bla bla. Bla bla la la la bla bla bla, what do you think??"
 
I don't even really bother asking questions since the answers I get usually just confuse me more. I have a few go-to people I trust, otherwise I just figure stuff out myself.

but. I can't say I got any more or less help before some people found out I was a girl; as long as you're not blatantly putting no effort into your grow and asking questions without a lil research, there's always someone here on riu willing to help out.
 
I only respond to grow questions with less than 3 posts and more than 80 views. I hated when I first posted in the grow areas, and because the question had been asked before, or because my post-count/rep were still low, it would be ignored.

If I check out the user information, it's to make sure it's not some "senior" member fuckin' around cuz they are drunk or bored. Honestly, I don't know the gender of more than the people on my friends list. I couldn't give to shits, the boss lady is a woman, that's all I need to know.

I also LOVE to hit n00bs with rep, when they ask a good question, good detailed information, and not a lot of t-n-t chatter on their post history. If you are kickin' it in TnT on the regular, you should be experienced enough to pop over and answer a couple questions now and then. We all need guidance now and then, but, at this point we should be doing the majority of the guiding. Same goes for politics, music, glass, etc. etc. (maybe that's why I'm distrustful of the new users posting a lot in here. It looks like the whole purpose was just to fuck with people... And, yeah, the majority of my posts are in here -- I had an old account though, before I was arrested and sent to prison.)

I try and post when I notice the thread might only have one or two responses to it, especially if it's a basic simple question that's easily answered..

I hate when someone asks a really basic question, just the kind that every one of us had, and half of us instinctively went "Oh, I could..." or "I should have... (stretch, or poppin' seeds, or that first leaf die-off...) Those are the ones that have 137 views, 2 responses: one says "Try the search function." (by someone who was once told the same thing, only to discover it sucks) and the next MORE detail, and the OP saying "I tried searching, it doesn't seem to work, sorry if it's been asked, I can't find it."

And, yeah, I'm pretty sure that's why we ALL punt the fresh meat (from time to time) that strays into TnT before their time, and takes up residence, neglecting their learning.
 
There are times when i see things and think wtf google and it's the first answer light distance watering npk etc but i am by far no expert so i just tell myself who am i to get irritated just don't answer.
On the flip side of that i do try and go into what's new once a night and look to see if there is a question i feel i can be helpful with and not hurt or harm the grow in any way, just feel like somebody put the info out there for me to read at one point so i might as well pay it forward a little bit if i am able. I know i have split personalities one minute im seemingly mad at the world the other happy guess just clump me in with the rest of the crazies around here.

I even think "google it." is kinda' harsh. Really, we found this place by "googling it." this is THE place, because we are chalk full of THE growers. When I'm feeling like saying "fuck it, dude, just use google." I stay outta the questions areas, and just chill and talk. I'm intelligent, and an awesome grower. I can set up and take down grows expertly, and like to share that knowledge. Because most of it has been gleaned here, over the past 5+ years. (I spent my first year just reading, no pics, nothing. I didn't make an account until I could answer the questions poppnig up in the new user sections.)

I tend to agree with the just Google it thing.. ffs, the time it took someone to type out just Google it, more than likely they could have already answered the question IMO..
I know i read all sorts of books and magazines for a good 15/20 years before I attempted to grow cannabis, not to mention having a veggie garden for a decade or so, and even still I had some pretty basic questions when I started out.. I was very thankful for a few kind hearted members I met in the 250 club who were willing to share their knowledge and helped me out.. 2 of whom have grown to become very very close friends off of the site, even though I've yet to meet either IRL, I consider them great friends..
IMO, it's how forums are meant to work.. you can read all you want, but sometimes you might want to ask a question about your specific situation .. not to mention we all know how great the search feature can be on this site at times..
I just like to feel like I give back as much as I have taken from this site is all.. some days I might not be in the mood to answer the same question for the 100th time so on those rare days I will simply opt not to answer instead of being arrogant and unhelpful to a newb who's only looking for some guidance or even a lil reassurance ..

I do my best to help the newbs. but the older members who keep asking. that's when i get irritated and tell them to google shit. lol....
But never to a first time poster/grower..

I just google it for them. :)
 
good attitudes around here for the most part guess everyone is human and stew "i just google it for them" is how we should all be.
