G13 - Dr. Greenthumb grow - HeartlandHank

I'm hoping Dr Gruber comes by and can help me out with this one.

So, I remember Dr Gruber saying that his G13 plants had a bit of white pistils when ready for harvest. Someone else said it too, maybe OGMan?
Anyway. I'm looking at the trichs and I see 75% cloudy and 25% clear. This is just about what I like to harvest at. But, that puts the plant to harvest after only 7 weeks.

What do you think?

I've never been one to go by pistil colors or anything else other than trichs. It hasn't let me wrong so far. But, I took the last crop at 8.5 weeks.
My second crop is always a little quicker than the first as the mother has gotten older and it kicks into flower sooner. Dropping about 10 days though is not something I have seen before.

I am thinking I will give it another 4 days and then take them down. Not sure yet.

I only ran the G13 one time and i took it to 63-70 days.
7 weeks doesn't seem right, but if your trichs are fully globular and milky then what do i know.
I always do a multi stage harvest so maybe you could try taking some now and keeping the rest on the plant for another 2 weeks to compare them. That would be very cool to have them finish that early but you don't want to screw yourself out of the best buds.
Also, i would shoot Doc an email asking him if he ever has the G13 finish that early....

Will do.
I think I will just wait until the end of 8 weeks.
My other plant ran way longer than 8 weeks. This plant seems to be the quick one of the bunch. With the previous grow it ran 8.5 wks.

Hank, having run the g-13 for 2 years now they are usually done in 56-58 days. I have let them go as far as 88 days and still had less than 10% amber and was less potent then ones taken at 58 days. Even at 70 days the very tip of the buds were still stacking but not to the extent that it improved the yeild.

^ Very helpful. Thank you.
Although my eyes are telling me to harvest sooner, I am going to wait until 56 days and then harvest.
I'm beginning to wonder if I wrote down the start date incorrectly. But, i'll play it safe at56.

Yesterday the calyx went through a little more swelling. This crop is looking killer.
Spreading the 8 plants out over 1800 (previously 1200) watts for the final 2 weeks made for some excellent late growth.
I'll take a shot just before cutting them down. It should be a great couple of pics. I always love the pics I get when removing the plants from the tent and getting them under both natural and overhead ligthing.

I'm going to go ahead and journal the 12 plant/1800 watt grow coming up. They are getting a nice longer veg in 2/3 gal pots right now.
I'm thinking that with the larger root system (from 1 qt to 2/3 gal) I should be able to hit 19oz per 600 hps. Getting that from clone with only T8 veg would be pretty epic, for me anyways.

That grow should conclude this journal.

Im loving your journal...glad it will keep going for a while.

I know what you mean about natural light photos......cant beat em.

Have you tried the Herb IQ software? I know I would be lost without it having 15 mothers and cloning a 100 plants a month.

I went ahead and took them at 8 weeks...
The third pic is of 2 1/2ish plants.
Excellent harvest. I'm working on a nice slow dry right now.

I'll throw up some dry shots, smoke report and a nice little G13 essay after dry and a short cure.
After that, I'll be back on the Bubba OG journal.
The Bubba OG journal was just so uneventful (taking clones, trying to stall) that I felt efforts were better served on the G13 journal.

There are some real nice colas..
It's interesting how these buds keep growing. As the pistils go red/brown new white pistils come out with a new stack of calyx. New growth of the buds sort of comes in layers, covering the previous growth.. weird.

The yields are already huge, but I think they would be larger with another week. The thing is, I always prefer the smoke before there are many amber trichs. With another week I would have seen more amber, for sure.

im with you on the amber trichs....that is until recently. Ive been finding that for medical reasons i need more amber...it just works better for my issues. As a recreational smoke i still like less amber.

I've been keeping the dry cabinet in the mid to low 60% humidity.
Between these G13 plants and the Star x KO Kush (Sannies freebies) the drying cabinet is smelling amazing.

After 8 days of drying the buds have been clipped from the branches and put into jars. I'll be burping the jars over the next week to get a consistent moisture content.

Then, I'll give them a couple weeks of sitting in the jars with an occasional burp. Then, I'll get a smoke report together and write a little something up on my feelings about G13.

I do have another 12 plant G13 grow under 1800 watts.
I could do one more grow with this journal... but... it could get a little redundant. We'll see.

If not a full journal, how about just giving us an update at the end with a few nice pictures?
Yeah, good idea.
I don't think there is much to show new with a full journal.
I'll throw up pics though near the end, for sure.

I did bigger plants going into flower this time. Bigger root systems from bigger pots.. taller plants... hopefully bigger results!

Also, I'll throw more effort at my Bobba OG journal.. here.. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/635580-dr-greenthumb-bubba-og-heartlandhank.html
