This is my second Grow the first was a G-Force grow that was heavily LST'd and grown in soil.

This grow i'm experimenting and trying out growing in Hempy buckets using 1/4 vermiculite 3/4 perlite.

I bought 10 reg G13 x Haze planted 2 seeds in rockwool cubes to grow into mothers and then 9 plant SOG from clones once sexed.

I had them soaking in water first for 24 hrs both have cracked so hopefully they'll both come up. Been in cubes for 48hrs now

Also I have some free Auto Assasin seeds from Dope Seeds, and are currently germinating 2 in rockwool, these will be growing while i veg the mothers to give me a small supply. The Autos have thier own grow journal "Auto Assasin hempy grow under 250watt cfl"

Since my last grow i've upgraded my extraction system, had to tho as killed my bathroom extractor not designed for 24hr use.

I have bought a systemair rvk100 much better, moves more air and is quiet only bad point is physically larger but will cope, comes with nice metal mounting bracket which is good. Air will be drawn from top of my closet down to the fan then out through a new channel i've built on the wall before going through the wall, this channel gives me about 1.5metre length of duct to allow the sound of the fan to be disguised, at least i hope, otherwise fan would go straight out from the fan, people say you need a length about 2 metres to smooth out the flow making it quieter, mine also gets bigger than a 100 mm duct pipe, so should help.

The grow room is also going to be lined with reflective insulation to reflect the light, was last time just flat white. As i have a 250watt cfl i'm not worried about any hot spots as not bright enough to burn the plants, compared to big hps type lights. hoping it will help reflect the lights lower down the plants.

No plans on changing anything else at the moment, except maybe investing in a thermostatic fan controller depends on the temps while lights on.

Both seeds have come up and their first set off leaves are open they are under my led lights at mo, as they are cooler. Had to go out and buy some vermiculite as when checking found the tap root was coming out the bottom of the 1inch rockwool cube so as not able to get to the local grow shop till weekend have moved the cubes into 330ml plastic cups and made them into little hempy pots till i have more perlite and vermiculite, B & Q expensive for very small amount bought need lots more for rest of grow.

How old do the babies need to be before i can start using my 250watt cfl 6500k, and at what height, i've never grown from seed my first grow was a free clone.

Just put my cfl back in and turned her on put the 6500k bulb in but lifted the light to the top of the closet don't want to upset them, also fitted my extractor and turned it on, as it's a new fan and setup am running the fan for an hour and then checking the temps hopefully i'll be able to put the light on a timer 15mins on 15mins off, this new fan def moves much more air than previous one, and at mo she's sucking air direct from the reflector.

Hoping to get some pics up soon, will take some when testing temps in an hour.

One of the seedlings had stretched a little early on when light was too far from it so i've repotted them early and buried some of the stretched stem in the new perlite/vermiculite mix.

they have been repotted into 6inch square topped pots about 8inch tall, roughly 3.6ltrs capacity, this is the final pot for them unless i change them into 1 gallon pots once they have been sexed, and much bigger.

The two at the front are the G13xHaze back 2 are my Auto Assasin

I've just sprayed the grow room to increase the humidity, hence the water drops.

What kind of nutrients do you have ? And how much have you been putting in a gallon of water ?

They need a complete hydroponic veg nutrient at nearly full strength and a PH above 6.0

To test the PH of a Hempy you tip out some water from the hempy rez through the hole into a dish. Then test the PH of that run off water. That will tell you the exact PH inside the hempy.

The PH of vermiculite can range from source to source. It might be quite acidic and locking out nutes. Or maybe your starting water is too Acidic. What is the PH of your nute mix when you make a full strength batch ?

If your hempy tests below 6.0 with full strength hydro nutes then give it more mixed nutes with a higher PH and let it drain.

I started feeding on chempak No. 3 20/20/20 at quarter strength, then because they looked a bit nitrogen short changed to chempak No.2 25/15/15 and went to half strength, I haven't got a PH meter but will have to go out and get one. I know our water at source is quite alkaline as in SE England very limescalely area for water, water is not straight from tap i bubble air through it with a airstone for a couple of days b4 use.

There's lot of people on here using same nutes as me so prob something i'm doing wrong, PH meter one mistake and not at full strength another to start with.

Chempak is actually a chemical nutrient for Soil Grows. They do make a Chempak Hydroponic version that has the proper trace elements for hydro.

Check your PH first but think about acquiring a real Hydro nutrient that is known to work with hempys.

I suggest GH flora series or Botanicare CNS 17 line.

The perlite and verm media is totally sterile unlike soil that always has some trace elements present. That is why it requires a hydroponic formulated nutrient to get the best results.

What I did is instead of buying a PH and PPM meter I just used GH series with Lucas Formula and a PH liquid dropper test kit.

The Lucas Formula's ppm strength is always the same @ 8ml micro to 16ml bloom. You use it as a baseline and adjust from there.

Any hydroponic nutrient for veg can be used on seedlings in hempys. Just mix it at the full recommended dosage and it should work.

I give my clones Lucas formula for both veg and flower but seedlings are different. They like veg feedings.

Due to my own mistake i have had to change the grow. I didn't have the right nutrients or a ph meter to check the run-off.

I have removed the plants from the Hempy and mixed soil in with the Perlite/Vermiculite mix at 50%soil, 37.5%perlite, 12.5%vermiculite. The 2 very poorly babies have been replanted in identical sized pots but not hempy pots, both had very good root system, hope i have moved them early enough to save them.

I've also picked up 4 cheese clones from a friend that are in rockwool hopefully growing roots, so hopefully getting planted in 7-14 days in soil/perlite mix.

Think the babies are slowly recovering, i've cut off the dead leaves allowing more light to get in to the rest of the small green leaves. They don't look brilliant but hoping they recover if they don't i'll have to sow some more seeds, good job these seeds were cheap, didn't spend loads in case i messed up, wise choice!!!! as i did screw up the grow lol.

The autos i'm growing aswell had the same move done to them but they were much healthier and have picked up much quicker and are looking much better and filling out a bit.

Cheese cuttings are still in there little humidity dome in rockwool while they root too soon for them to have rooted yet but as soon as they do i'll pot in there own pots, they all fem's at least as they are all clones.

I'll post some pics later of the sad looking babies.

3rd October

The two babies are now fully recovered and growing fast. I've taken 2 cuttings from each and they have been dipped in rooting gel and put in rockwool cubes to grow roots. The clones once they have roots will be put in soil and put straight into 12/12 to sex the parents any boys will be murdered, hopefully both will be female as they both look like really nice plants once my autos have finished i'll put them into 12/12 after taking clones first tho i also have my cheese to grow yet as 2 are now wanting repotting as roots are at bottom of their pots, arrgh i'm running out of room lol. I'll have to finish my pc growbox as my clone grow room until time to flower them, should save some room.

I had fungus gnats earlier in the grow and had to kill them with plant vitality plus, but have read that putting 1/2 an inch of sand on top of the soil gets rid of them as the sand dries up very quickly,

Is this true because if i get them in the future i would like to try it and save having to use chemicals near my little girls, especially when they have started flowering.
