im a medical patient under the california marijuana laws and i cant always buy my medicine so i purchased a rubbermaid garage bi folding cabinet from home depot. about 3'wide by 2' deep and about 5' high usable space inside...plan on doing two plants in it just to see how it goes but i want to yield as much as possible obviously. right now i have 2 store bought clones (diablo OG and skywalker OG) inside planted about 3 days ago...for the cooling/venting i have 2 "light trap" boxes you see located in the lower right and upper left, (seen them on youtube) simply put its a box with foam board staggered walls on the inside that allow air but no light in/out...very effective...(on a small scale) 12vd DC 85cfm...i know its not alot but its in a garage pulling in cold air in low and hot air out up high...its not a tornado but steady consistent flow...as u can see the lights are some turkey pan rigged 6 cfl lights held 6" away....4 5500k 26watters and 2 6500k 26watters...right now all is perfect
got FF ocean soil in there now, not gonna run nutes until flower and then its floranova bloom...keepin it simple
ANYWAYS...long story short
i have a "hydrofarm" flouro light hood (125 or 200watt max), the bulb socket is same as a HID so i can just convert the cord to plug it into a ballast....my friend has a 400 watt MH/HPS switchable ballast and hps bulb i can have...lol, go figure, lucky me...all i have to do is get that cord and i have a hps ballast, hood and bulb, good to go
MY QUESTION IS....
so in this cabinet i REALLY want to run that HPS when i get to flowering stage, as u can see the hydrofarm hood has no glass or hood set up to do the inline ducting cooling tube thing or anything in that nature, its just an open hood...am i out of my mind for attempting to run that bulb in there???...heat issues?...i can make another exhaust "light trap" box and install it next to the other one up high in the cabinet with a higher cfm if necessary but i was planning on just putting a small fan under the canopy blowing up when they get bigger with the hopes of "heat rises"and heat will just never have a chance to collect inside...i mean you can see in the pics i actually do ahve a few more feet up high so i dunno, i heard the hps will make it raging hot in there and then i heard some other dude say you can do it if its a open air hood like mine???how????..maybe another cold air in down low also????..plus by then ill be 12/12 ( with the light ON @ night when its pulling in cold garage air) and its cold as fuck in there with a gargage/backyard door that stays open all night for my dog to sleep in the garage, bringing in crisp night chilly air into the cabinet all night...temp stays at about 75f throughout the night even with all those 6 bulbs right up on that thermometer(plants) and about 85f MAX (if that)during the day
i can always just make another turkeypan cfl hood and then id be running a total of 12... 26 watt 2700k (1600 lumens) on the flower stage??? 4 in each turkeypan hood and 4 side lighting bulbs on the track lighting on the side of the cabinet as you can see....will i get a good yield off of that????? i can constantly adjust the CFLs if i go that route and keep them a steady constant 4-6 inches away, thats not a problem...
WHAT SHOULD I DO??????
i could realllly use any advice at this point....please reply
