Garlic and Onion

A few weeks ago I had an old pod of garlic and some of the cloves were sprouting. Being curious I tossed them into 3 pots with about 4 cloves each. They all grew like weeds and survived all but the coldest frost. I actually left 1 of the pots outside in the snow and I am pretty sure the plants survived, they shed their longer stalks but are regrowing them now.

I posted this because I ran across and article about growing your own onions as well. When I cook I use a lot of both of these 2 and they have the added advantage of covering any ugh....odors.....you might have.

onions also collect and attract gnats when they start to decompose, as soon as they are picked. The sweetness in the garlic is also a strong ant attractant even though most pests avoid it like the plaque, ants cant smell.

very cool! I love garlic and onions to cook with! The smell is a bonus.

if you like garlic, get out and buy yourself a string of smoked garlic! even if you don't cook with it, just hang it in your pantry, the smell is simply divine. would probably work as a totally kick ass odour eater as well
