what about the price of EVERYTHING going up when gas went up? you know, "delivery costs". when is the price of EVERYTHING going to drop?

it's all bullsh*t.
Most of this stuff has already been grown, delivered or manufactured using expensive gas/diesel. After all, gas has only dropped this low in the last month. For instance, milk prices are still high because farmers had to harvest their hay or silage with expensive gas/diesel. Gas prices might be cheap now, but if all their cows are in for the winter, that doesn't help dairy farmers. If oil prices stay this low, you wouldn't see considerably cheaper food until after the next growing season. Sure, food is a little cheaper because of lower shipping costs, but you're right, it isn't by much, at least not yet.

I feel for you. Once about 20 years ago, we were returning from a long vacation from Socal through Yellowstone and on into Canada and coming back along the coast. We got an early start from our camping spot just north of Frisco and decided to go into the city for breakfast, I got off the freeway and headed down some street, (Name long forgotten) and ended up in the morning commute. I've never seen so many crazy motherfuckers driving like scalded rats in my life. They were passing on the right and I was in the right hand lane, they were literally passing in parking zones. I came to a corner and saw a policeman and flagged him down and asked the quikest way to the freeway, fortunately, the next right turn led me back to it and I escaped the chaos. That was my first, last, and only driving experience in San Fran. My symphathy goes out to you.

The rub, not many have any disposable income, and many have no income at all. This is a good time for the rich and famous, but for the majority, buying gold or silver etc. is way off base. Recession/Depression always benefits the rich.
Yeah, I lost about a quarter of my savings. But I still had enough money left to invest some of it. I don't think the rich are benefiting though, investment bankers are getting canned right and left. My brother works for Citigroup so he fills me in on a fair bit of financial information, and rest assured, the rich are hurting too.

Thank God, they basically stole the money, so I wonder how much they are really hurting? Maybe they are only making 400K instead of the millions they were stealing, But the real rich never hurt in a Recession/depression. If you were a million dollar Plus a year guy and, Oh, so sorry, you lost your job, hey asswipe (not you Dr.) welcome to poverty, Oh hell no, they surely saved some of that loot, eh? I really don't get the rich. Having had to work my ass off, physically, and never got rich, it mystifies me. How could someone actually be worth millions a year? If you discovered the cure for cancer, hell yeah, a few million for that job may be justified, But we all know, they don't want to cure cancer, or any money making disease, just treat the symptoms like they do with all diseases. Don't kill the cash cow for Christs sake.

i was just talkin to my dad about the subject. he suggests that gas prices were high because the investors were investing heavily in cheap real estate and they got fucked over badly for being a bunch of greedy pricks. idk if this is true but just a thought.

No, low prices are taken advantage of by those who are prepared. Wealth is the by product.

It's the drop in GLOBAL demand which has lowered prices in oil.

out. :blsmoke:

yep i just dont understand why gas is the most expensive in cali i hate seeing all the other states with way cheaper gas but at least we have dropped back down again thank god i can finially drive my cadillac again
Gasoline is more expensive in California for one reason only ... the environmental Nazis in our state legislature have mandated that only special, cleaner burning blends be sold in California. Its more expensive to produce, so the costs are handed down to the end consumer. The higher cost of gasoline in California is reflected in almost everything we buy including services rendered.

Supply and demand my ass ... we were ripped off ... plain and simple ... if you what to make up some kind of bullshit to cover for the corporate greed that took place ... knock yourself out ... when gas was $4.25 a gal people in my area were still speeding ... I drove 50-55mph ... and I seldom pass anyone on the highway ...
... and as far as Calif. paying more ... consider it punishment for electing the war criminal Pelosi ... and Finstein along with the rest of the criminals ...

All those prices should fall but only if gas prices stay low. After all, the stuff you buy now was probably made and transported with expensive gas.
